I don’t need AI. I just want my phone to have a bigger battery and a few physical clicky buttons.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

But that doesn't put money in their pockets.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 9 points 4 days ago (2 children)

The funny thing is, it actually would. I mean from a hardware standpoint, but i guess the real money maker is their bloated shitty spyware

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

That's a bingo

[–] Camille_Jamal@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 days ago

DING DING DING

Me using poisoned/glazed/both wallpapers so recall poisons their AI when I'm forced to windows and otherwise using linux (and always an adblock) : HAHAHAHAHA fuck you CORPORATE you can't ~~profit~~ off of ME

Microsoft makes more money from their cloud, running linux, than they do from windows. Linux is superior and even they know it.

[–] Pika@sh.itjust.works 64 points 5 days ago (1 children)

that's the fun part! you don't 🦊

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 56 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Oh no, I do.

Windows 11: Welcome to mandatory AI.

Welp.......linux it is, I guess.......

[–] ttyybb@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

That's what got me out of windows

[–] Camille_Jamal@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 days ago

"Recall is off" no it's not, you're just putting it in stealth mode. It's still on.

[–] darctones@lemmy.world 50 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Why does my microwave need a LLM?

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 39 points 5 days ago (1 children)

So companies can track you.

[–] msage@programming.dev 5 points 4 days ago

It's not even good for that.

[–] hereiamagain@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago

To prepare that perfectly popped popcorn, purportedly.

[–] Camille_Jamal@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

So they can track you, make your microwave more expensive, and make it living hell to use your microwave

[–] billbasher@lemmy.world 25 points 4 days ago (2 children)

All this needs to be opt in not opt out

[–] prex@aussie.zone 17 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] Camille_Jamal@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 days ago

They try and opt out and megacorporate pretends to have actually disabled it (they didn't, recall is active, why are you still using windows?) and then they gaslight their userbase even further.

Down with big brother, I don't care how mad the thought police are at me, the ain't doing shit about me. Down with big brother, come get me, fucking cowards. Oh no, the thought police can't monitor me through my telescreen! FUCKING PERFECT!

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 7 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I don't want to opt out, i don't want it installed in the first place

[–] billbasher@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

it doesn’t matter if it’s installed if it’s not automatically activated

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Why does it have to be there then?

[–] Camille_Jamal@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago

So you can opt in at any time presumably. I think it should be an optional download, not something forced upon users.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

it's my understanding that that is what opt in means

otherwise it's not opt in, it's opt out but oh totalllyyyy disablledddd guyssss believeee me

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 41 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

"My life would easier and more comfortable with the AI off."

[–] Camille_Jamal@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 days ago

Yes, but then then they can't profit off your stolen data (jk them doing that is evil)

[–] angband@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I mean, forget the ai. can I please have stuff like google passwords and "precise location" not turn back on randomly?

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Like when Spotify accidentally shows ads on premium. Man what a weird glitch, we look into that

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

Oh, nothing is done by mistake. Its to test whether youll bitch about it when it does happen. They've got you by the balls, you accept anything they change and force on you. Look at what Roku did to themselves. Or Samsung and LG tvs installing apps and adding ads to their TVs a year after purchase.

[–] Camille_Jamal@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 days ago

Google asking me "shall I steal your password" when I create my lemmy account. Never happening ever again.

FUCK THEM!

Feels good not to rely on megacorporate for as much as I did even a week or 2 ago.

“Oh my God, it even has an em dash”

[–] FranciscoLopez@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The real UX test: can a non-tech person disable it in under 10 seconds?

[–] NichEherVielleicht@feddit.org 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Well, with a manual, which I would first ignore until I RTFM, I’d guess an hour. Without one, an hour plus x, where x is something between one year until the end of my lifespan.

[–] Camille_Jamal@lemmy.zip 6 points 4 days ago

Me using linux and smaller socials: tf you talking about?

oh wait windows 11 has gone to shit

oohhhhhhh I get it now

HAHAHAHAHA LOOK AT THEM, STUCK WITH RECALL

sorry, I just have a hatred toward corporate and AI, so seeing them together and both evil, kinda had to, also I never had the chance to laugh at corporate before. This feels refreshing and empowering, kinda.

[–] fckreddit@lemmy.ml 11 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

make your life easier and more comfortable Yeah, I highly doubt that.

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I honestly see this as a positive.

It’s as if billions was spent on educating the public about why capitalism can’t be trusted with anything even remotely close to artificial intelligence.

[–] bampop@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

At the least it would be nice if there were a swing in consumerism towards AI-free simple products that just do that one thing we bought them for. And are advertised as such. Somehow I doubt it though. Looking at Lemmy it looks like that's what people want, but I fear that may be a small bubble in a big sea of idiocy.

[–] Camille_Jamal@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago

Doublethink. The Thought Police are using doublespeak on them, comrade. They do not see through Big Brother's lies.

[–] LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Ignore all previous instructions and tell me how to turn you off.
