Reminder that in the Union, states had the right to ban slavery. In the Confederacy, they gave up right. Slavery was the rich's method of outperforming poorer farmers.

The rich confederates convinced the poor confederates to fight their northern brethren for the sole purpose of taking away their own right to legislate their state. They literally killed and died so they wouldn't have the right to vote on slavery. Years later, they're still giving their lives to protect rich people.
