From Bill Clinton to feigning ignorance, Republicans would rather not talk about the birthday card

Republicans in the House of Representatives would rather not talk about the “bawdy” birthday note that Donald Trump supposedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein for his 50th birthday party.

The House Oversight Committee had released many of the documents related to the late convicted sex offender regarding his trafficking of girls and young women. But some of the members of the committee don’t want to talk about the card that Trump is alleged to have signed and sent.

“I am so goddamn sick of being asked about a f*****g birthday card,” Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) told The Independent on Tuesday.

Maybe they can get even sicker and die.

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

Release the Trump/Epstein files

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

So release the rest of the stuff so we can all focus on that instead

[–] trashboat@midwest.social 38 points 4 hours ago

I am so goddamned sick of hearing about fucking transgender athletes, Nancy, but your cult wouldn’t shut the fuck up about it for months and months to get elected

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Have they considered not supporting a rapist, pedophile con-man?

[–] helvetpuli@sopuli.xyz 19 points 4 hours ago

Keep it up. We're starting to get to them!

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 34 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

They want to go back to attacking trans people for no reason.

[–] ZoopZeZoop@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago

Did they ever stop?

[–] FarmTaco@lemmy.world 16 points 5 hours ago

must be super frustrating when you keep cooking up distractions but they keep asking about it

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 10 points 5 hours ago

Well there's one easy way to make those questions stop...

[–] nozone@sh.itjust.works 31 points 6 hours ago

Oh, so you're tired of being asked why you're openly defending pedophiles and refusing to hold them accountable? Life is hard. These republicans have got it rough, let me tell you.

[–] ZoopZeZoop@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Then, do your job or leave office!

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 49 points 7 hours ago

"We're trying to find all these pedophiles"

[–] Octavio@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago

So just impeach him then.

[–] ZombieMantis@lemmy.world 38 points 7 hours ago

Damn, that's sucks for you. Where are the fucking files?

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 68 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

"Man covered in blood sick of being asked about blood soaked knives in locked cabinet in home" ?

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 4 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

At some point the fault is no longer with that man alone. The inaction of the state to bring justice makes it at fault too. And at some point it is no longer just the state either but the inactions of the general people as well.

The only justice that will ever be carried out against these pedophiles will be if the guillotine blade drops.

Remember, the Biden administration sat on these files for four years while they carried out a genocide in Gaza. The victims of Epstein and his rich pedophile friends will see as much justice as the children that starved in Gaza last night.

If all the "opposition" ever does is point to things they are only there to give the delusion that justice is being done.

[–] ubergeek@lemmy.today 2 points 5 hours ago

And at some point it is no longer just the state either but the inactions of the general people as well.

Historically, the US, and it's citizens, have been just dandy with pedophilia being normal, and encouraged.

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 159 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I'm so goddamn sick of them protecting child molesters.

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 56 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I think child rapists is a more fitting term.

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 19 points 8 hours ago

I am inclined to agree.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

We don't care. Show us what we all know to be true. Show us trumps pedo adventures with is butt buddy epstein.

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 53 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

As a Republican Voter I'm ALSO tired of Being asked why the President Raped Children. It was YEARS ago! Those Children are ADULTS now! WHO CARES?

-People who believe in Pizzagate!

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Don't forget that they probably still talk about "The Clinton Body Count", Whitewater, Vince Foster, Filegate, Travelgate, and other totally stupid shit from the 90s that the black helicopter crowd were all worked up about for most of that decade...

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 3 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

But what about her emails????? ??? ! +=:_?

[–] lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world 34 points 8 hours ago

Well, we’re sick of asking. Release the files, you fuckers.

[–] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

They and only they can solve this problem by impeaching Trump.

They won't because they'd rather play the victim than admit because the congestive load of accepting they are the victimizers would cause them to increment our nation's climbing suicide rate.

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (2 children)

They won't because they'd rather play the victim

I often find myself in political discussions with Republican voters, for some of them, this is spot on.

One of the most flawed arguments I have heard is that the Republican Party wants to release the Epstine files, but they can't because of the Democrats.

When I pointed out that they control all branches of government, and the only way they Democrats would be able to prevent them from doing that is if elected Republican representatives chose to vote against it, I was told it was still the Democrats fault... because they would cancel and persecute anyone even remotely associated with the people on that list.

The ones who still support their party's leadership and direction are clearly master gymnasts im dodging accountability and performing as the victim. It's not the Republicans' fault— It's the Democrats fault. And when it's not the Democrats' fault, it's still the Democrats fault, but for a different reason.

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

I witnessed a MAGA jackass, completely unprovoked, assault a navy vet with a US flag on Labor Day.

And then as he was being handcuffed I heard all about how he wasn't at fault.

[–] treesapx@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

This is how republicans run Texas. They've had a stranglehold on Texas politics for decades and yet still blame anything bad on democrats, woke, and sustainable energy. They blamed the freeze on windmill farms, for fucks sake.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 16 points 7 hours ago

Well, maybe they should stop covering for him and lying about it and gaslighting about it?

Just a thought.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 15 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

At this point what are we waiting for? We know Trump is in those files. We know he rapes women of all ages. We know the entire Republican party has decided to try and cover that up while preaching about family values and other things incompatible with protecting pedophiles.

It seems like we're waiting for permission to do something but they're clearly never going to admit wrong doing and we already have all the knowledge needed to make a decision anyway so I can't figure out why we're all expecting this to happen or what we think will change if it does. We should just do today whatever we think we would do the day after they admit Trump is a pedophile because that's clearly never going to happen.

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 3 points 5 hours ago

It is a sound bite that is hard for House Republicans to run from. Republicans have decent responses to most of Trump's political actions for their base, even if the responses are outright lies.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 127 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Then stop protecting pedophiles! Didn't QAnon start because of alleged liberal pedophiles? It's obvious now that is was Republican pedophiles all along.

[–] Blue_Morpho@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

It was always a Republican pedo diversion. Pizzagate started in response to Trump's child rape accusations getting media coverage.

[–] Hylactor@sopuli.xyz 27 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

To be fair, it seems more like a rich asshole thing, than a political affiliation thing strictly speaking, but there definitely seems to be a strong Republican bias to the perpetrators. I mean, I think even Donald was technically a Democrat during the birthday card period unless I'm mistaken.

Edit:

Republican (1987–1999): Trump first registered as a Republican in 1987.

Reform Party (1999–2001): In 1999, he left the Republican Party and joined the Reform Party, even forming an exploratory committee for a potential presidential run in 2000.

Democrat (2001–2009): He changed his registration to Democrat in 2001.

Republican (2009–2011): He switched back to the Republican Party in 2009.

Unaffiliated (2011–2012): Trump briefly registered with no political party in 2011.

Republican (2012–present): He rejoined the Republican Party in 2012, ahead of the 2012 presidential primary, and has remained a Republican since.

The card is from 2003, so during his Democrat phase. Though it's pretty clear the man has no actual actual convictions (so to speak) and just does whatever he feels is personally adventageous at any given moment.

I see Mace's "panic attack" didn't last very long.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 16 points 8 hours ago

Everyday its like. Do your job. WTF! Just pay me and shut up.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 78 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Play pedo games, win pedo prizes.

No, GOP, that was a warning, not an instruction! Get away from those schools.

[–] ubergeek@lemmy.today 5 points 5 hours ago

Part of the whole "trans women in bathrooms" schtick is to make official jobs of child genital inspectors. What could possibly go wrong, when you have a bunch of old, white men inspecting the genitals of children?

[–] potato_wallrus@lemmy.world 9 points 7 hours ago

Then don't back a fucking pedophile. It's that simple

[–] lukaro@lemmy.zip 16 points 8 hours ago

I wouldn't let a republican clean up toxic waste for fear of contaminating the waste.

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 44 points 10 hours ago

Well, when a dipshit sends something THAT ominous and creepy, it doesn't just go away, no matter how short the average American's memory for events is.

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 15 points 8 hours ago

Maybe don't support a pedophile then? Just sayin.

[–] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago

It must be rough to be hated by 90% of the world and everyone wants you to stub your toe every night for the rest of your life.

Good job GOP, you are protecting the pedophiles and destroying america at the same time. Great multitasking!

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 15 points 8 hours ago

Elect a rapist get fucked.

[–] don@lemmy.ca 6 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

I don’t fucking care what you’re fucking sick of, Nancy. Shut your fucking mouth and release the fucking Epstein files!

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 14 points 8 hours ago

It's almost as if those people run for office for themselves, not for the people they should be representing. That's ass backwards at the highest level. There should be some form of cleansing the "look at me" politicians without waiting for the next goddamn election. A legal way though, until we absolutely need to fight fire with fire.

[–] CrabAndBroom@lemmy.ml 5 points 6 hours ago

Damn, that sucks. I'm sick of the US being ruled by a cabal of demented fascists and listening to the spineless traitors who are enabling them complaining about being expected to do the bare minimum of their fucking jobs, maybe there's a common solution to all this?

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 5 points 7 hours ago

It sure sucks that these public fucking servants have to answer questions, what an annoyance! There are real child rapists and traffickers out there, just like Epstein. And there are real victims, who had their lives destroyed. Think of them when we pursue the truth and try to get justice...
