Between this and WSJ claiming there's antitrans inscriptions on the ammo, this is almost certainly a false flag, meant to incite just such a war on LGBTQ+.

What if they discover it was a republican or foreign shooter? Not a Democrat. Then what happens to this narrative they feel they need to push?

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 39 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Are you suggesting that the GOP might lie in furtherance of an agenda?

It's cute you think facts would play any role in Republican arguments.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 21 points 17 hours ago

I'm sure they will be happy to fabricate it

[–] Tryenjer@lemmy.world 10 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (1 children)

It doesn't matter, they're pushing this narrative in bad faith as an excuse to use violence against the people who they were planning to abuse anyway.

It's just my own conspiracy, with no evidence to back it up, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kirk death was ordered by his own party.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 4 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Personally, I think it is fair odds for it to be a foreign actor. Could be Venuzela, Palestine, Iran, Ukraine, Mexican cartels...there are many enemies that the Trump Regime have manufactured. It wouldn't be surprising at all if they retaliated against unprompted aggression in this fashion, if military force isn't an option.

Considering all the things that the Trump Regime has done, the 8-Ball could be correct when saying "Yes."

[–] Tryenjer@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Heh

At least no one is talking about how the Republicans voted to not release the Epstein files yesterday. How convenient for Trump...🤷

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 16 hours ago

See how the Confederates talk about that Confederate shooter that tried to shoot Taco.

Of course, that's all they got. What, are they going to demand bipartisan cooperation and a commitment to end gun violence? Get real. They threaten violence every time the sun rises. It's a good idea to remind them that murdering who they perceive as the American Left won't be as easy as the Nazis crushing the Jews. There will be strong resistance, and it is already starting.

[–] lemmy_acct_id_8647@lemmy.world 21 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

WTF is this??? It's like Wired built a manifesto for right wing nut jobs instead of reporting a balanced story. What the actual fuck?!

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 14 hours ago

Have you ever heard NRP promoting genocide every day?

This stuff is very normal in a fascist society.

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 33 points 19 hours ago (5 children)

On the other hand, a difficult long distance sniper shot has the marks of a professional hit, plus he got away. Sounds a lot like an ordered hit on a not too valuable target for a political purpose. Maybe a distraction from the Epstein files? Is it too much to ask to wait until we know a lot more before killing innocent people?

[–] sausager@lemmy.world 23 points 18 hours ago

He just happens to get shot on the same day the Republicans voted to not release the Epstein files 🤔

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

before killing innocent people?

Fash have been murdering innocent people since the invention of fascism. They've shot up countless schools, drove cars into people, etc. It's almost their whole ideology.

War on what? MAGA killing their own guys? Then yes let it begin

[–] StarryPhoenix97@lemmy.world 44 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (4 children)

It feels like this was a false flag and Kirk was a sacrifice. He's not really worth anything to the modern movement. I hear the president announced his death. That's crazy. That's suspicious. That shot was VERY good.

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

This was basically my conclusion. Very convenient timing on all counts.

[–] Sc00ter@lemmy.zip 4 points 14 hours ago

Not only was the skill of the shot high quality, the timing as well. The question being asked at the time was about gun violence and mass shootings.

Remember the day of the rope?

Lmao

It's too late for kirk and his bots, the American people are totally armed and have nothing to lose, Republicans and Democrats alike.

At this point, I would be shocked if the far-right responded with anything but calls for violence.

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 7 points 14 hours ago

Yes, meet random violence with even more random violence, that will solve everything! It always works, like every single time.

[–] Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 30 points 20 hours ago

They call for violence every time a non-white/cis/straight person breathes. This isn't news.

[–] biotin7@sopuli.xyz 5 points 14 hours ago

Who's going to tell right wingers that leftists fight better than them ?

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 30 points 20 hours ago

So... The thing that they were already doing?

OK.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 201 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (13 children)

This is just a lone wolf. Hell, there isn't even remotely a pattern of violence aimed at Confederate pundits. There is not even stochastic terrorism aimed at Confederates.

Who the fuck do these sister-fuckers even want vengeance on? We don't even know who the shooter is yet and there are no prominent figures on the left who are doing the stochastic terrorism thing (unlike much of the right).

For all we know, it's Charlie's jilted gay lover that shot him.

So, if the shooter turns out to be some Nazi shitbag, these right wingers are going to war with them right? Of course not, because they don’t actually care about what happened to Kirk, and have no problem with violence happening (as evidenced by all the goddamn violence they are always doing). They just want to take advantage of an opportunity to do more violence against what they perceive as the other team. They’re sociopaths with no moral framework other than self-enrichment, self-aggrandizement, and ends justifying means.

Like the little bitches weren't already out there bombing and shooting. But one professional troll cops irony and they're losing their shit

[–] kometes@lemmy.world 47 points 23 hours ago

This the same far-right that couldn't wear a face mask when 1,226,351 of us were dying of Covid? I am terrified, I tell you, terrified.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 95 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Oh! Oh! You mean just like when Trump tweeted a picture of Chicago exploding and said "Chicago is about to learn why it is called the Department of War"?

[–] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 9 hours ago

Which is made even more hilarious by the article I just saw that said Hegseth says it stands for peace.

To be fair they respond to most things the left does with calls for violence. They want to commit violence over trans existence.

Despite common belief (at least in my area) we have more guns than you.
