Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I don't celebrate death, but I do get a smile from the death of career republicans.

Having dealt with LaMalfa in local politics in my area, this is zero loss to humanity.

[–] retreaux@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

Absolutely Agree.

[–] shittydwarf@piefed.social 22 points 2 weeks ago

It's OK to enjoy some obituaries

[–] Ironfist79@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

Nah, it's okay to celebrate some deaths.

I try and never hope for another human being's death. Fortunately, pieces of shit aren't human.

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

By humans are terrible creatures and always have been. It's a choice to be a good person, it requires sacrifice and intent.

By not acknowledging this gives them a well if I'm not human why should I try to be humane mentality.

Don't fool yourself they are very very very human. Humans are horrible historically soeaking6

[–] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Are you seriously trying to say that by not acknowledging fascists humanity, it's MY FAULT if they then act inhumanely?

Those are some convoluted hoops to jump through just to do some victim blaming.

If you side with fascists, and utterly forsake common moral decency, you are no longer worthy of having your humanity considered when society comes for you. Sorry, shouldn't have voluntarily placed yourself in opposition to all moral and ethical standards.

You certainly seem to be connecting my opinion of them to their later inhumane mentality.

The congressman experienced a medical emergency on Monday night and was taken to a local hospital, where he died during a surgical procedure, the Butte County sheriff’s office said on Tuesday. Officials haven't disclosed the cause of his death.

“He voted with me 100% of the time,” Trump said. “With Doug, I never had to call.”

Sexual asphixiation

Every Republican that leaves office, by whatever means, is good for the world.

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

I would say that the supreme Court judges or any of the life long positions would be best served staying in office until this administration is over, even if that is a different Republican administration I would like to see someone else appointing them

It's a particularly shitty time in politics when the main takeaway from a person dying is how it will impact partisan vote count.

[–] AnchoriteMagus@lemmy.world 24 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The way Doug LaMalfa is remembered by the country at large was in no one's hands except Doug LaMalfa's.

If you don't want people to celebrate when you die, you should probably try not being utterly morally bankrupt and siding with a fascist autocracy.

[–] donkeyass@lemmy.sdf.org 0 points 1 week ago

I know nothing about Doug LaMalfa but political opinions work both ways. It's very dangerous when people want politicians dead instead of voted out.

Oh please 🙄

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Get real, champagne will flow when Pedonald is found in a bed of his shit.

[–] donkeyass@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 week ago

What does Donny Diddler have to do with this rep dying?

[–] timbuck2themoon@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

I noticed this too. Like a person dies and the immediate thought is how it affects the house.

Maybe he's terrible but youre right, it's a shitty time in politics.

Is this before or after losing MTG?

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

That’s one.

The scene from Oliver Twist where Oliver asks “Please sir, may I have some more?”

[–] AfterNova@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

That is a thin majority.

And if Green had just gone independent instead of retiring...
