A Twitter/X post on Russian state platform RT, twists Canadian PM Mark Carney’s remarks about supporting Danish/Greenland sovereignty within NATO into a false war declaration. Multiple independent records show Carney did not threaten war; he affirmed that Greenland’s future is for Denmark/Greenland to decide and underscored allied defense commitments—nothing more. Given RT’s track record and EU sanctions, this is a textbook Kremlin tactical narrative injection to create panic and divide the US and Canada.

RT has been identified by Canada and its allies as an important component of Kremlin intelligence operations.

THE CLAIM

RT’s X post reads: “CANADA WILL DECLARE WAR ON USA FOR GREENLAND — CARNEY.” The exact wording is mirrored by third-party captures discussing the RT post.

THE FACTS

Mark Carney did not declare war or threaten it. He stated the future of Greenland is for Greenland and Denmark and reaffirmed support for Danish/Greenland sovereignty, consistent with NATO commitments, not a call to war.

NARRATIVE CONTEXT & STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE

Match to playbook: Inflate allied differences, cast NATO as fracturing, and push Western publics toward cynicism (“allies on brink of war”). Strategic objective: Incite conflict between allies. Corrode NATO cohesion and distract from Russia’s aggression elsewhere by manufacturing an intra-alliance crisis.

Shit remember when Russian propaganda was subtle and effective?

Putin ain't what he used to be. Time to put that senior citizen to rest.

The problem is they realized they don't have to be. Why put time and energy into building subtle and nuanced propaganda when overwhelming brute force of massive lies works just as well, if not better?

Certain groups will take this and run with it, and in a year it'll be hard to remember who started the lie.

He needs to be ritualistically impaled

I would settle for a casual impalement as long as it is slow and televised.

I actually recommended his lower half be placed inside an airlocked bag with him left unattended but forced to watch all the latest Medias touch network videos to help cleanse him of his lying filth and his eyes screwed open like Robot Chicken, for like say a couple weeks. Situation will sort him out lickety split. Natural Cause of Death and all, no doubt

The problem we should be most worried about here is X. It is the gateway and channel for cultivating divisive movements. X is not only used on the daily by many Canadian citizens but by our political figures and institutions, all while being owned by a white supremacist who uses it to push the worst of the worst and to shape the worldviews of users in ways that are legitimately very threatening to both Greenland and Canada.

There are a lot of problems, but here the problem is RT. It's owned by a dictatorship that uses it to push the worst of the worst and to shape the worldviews of users in ways that are legitimately very threatening to both Greenland and Canada. (But, yes, Xitter and Xinhua and many others seek to sow division by fake news, insofar I agree).

Don't laugh, Canadians are known for being small, feathered and very aggressive!

It is time that we harness the rage and hate we stored in Canada Goose's after WW2 to save the world from Fascists once again!

I saw an article citing Trump worrying about our ability to defend our borders. He should ask Germany why he should pull the plug on any thoughts of aggression, and look at the scoreboard between Canada and the US to verify the findings.

Nations leaning on plausible deniability to attack the fabric of social discourse are committing acts of war and crimes against humanity, and are degrading the value of open exchange.

Maybe we need to cut the entirety of Asia and Israel from the internet. It would drastically reduce the spam, disinformation and agents provocateurs we deal with on the daily. It's not Uzbekistan's fault this is happening but I don't see a feasible way to isolate the troublesome countries without them proxying out through other countries.

Naturally, since current wannabe dictators are using this dynamic to attack their own democracies for personal gain, this will never happen, and even if it did, Elon would sell them Starlink accounts anyway.
