In the midst of whining about how much he wanted to own Greenland, Donald Trump forgot what the territory was called.

The Vikings' clever trick when naming the lands many centuries ago has taken another fool.

Can confirm. At least it was in the same speech where he said he wouldn't invide whatever place is on his mash of a mind.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Iceland has fallen to the CHINESE HOAX of GLOBAL WARMING and they don't have enough energy, it's time for the United States of America to LIBERATE them from leftist tyranny! MAKE ICELAND GREAT AGAIN!

[–] Redditsux@lemmy.world 56 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He just gave away his next invasion target.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Goddammit I was planning a trip to Iceland. Fuck Trump and those who support him.

[–] logi@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

That's so sad about your trip. Username checks out though.

DAVOS? I thought you said Davros!

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Clearly this is all part of the Dalek Master Plan.

[–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 44 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He could do the next best thing and finally stop breathing.

So....when are gonna call it? The guy is clearly losing his mind, right? Like, maybe before we are totally ruined?

[–] WalrusDragonOnABike@reddthat.com 37 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

So…when are gonna call it?

Like a decade ago? Yet somehow he got re-elected while he was clearly mentally unwell we his handlers gladly take advantage of it.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 11 points 1 month ago

We are not the “we” with that power.

[–] BC_viper@lemmy.world 30 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The difference between his rambling and mark carneys speech is remarkable. I felt better after carneys and, I just laugh after trumps. What a fucking loser.

[–] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 20 points 1 month ago

Seriously. It's like they carted some random old demented man from a care home and threw him on stage.

Someone give him an extra jello and change him already.

[–] GreenBeanMachine@lemmy.world 24 points 1 month ago (7 children)

USA - the least trustworthy NATO ally, complaining about trusting NATO allies.

Trump is projecting as always. I hope the EU and the world learned how much the USA can be trusted...

[–] merdaverse@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago

Unfortunately, we won't. The EU economy is so tied up to the US that the appeasement will just continue for now. For example Ireland, arguably the most critical European country of Israel, still hasn't implemented BDS laws because the US threatened economic sanctions.

But hopefully Europeans will be more critical the next time the US drags us into some more useless imperial wars on the other side of the world.

Not sure if NATO will be there for them eh? Well, let me think for a bit. What countries have invoked NATO article 5 since the existence of NATO? Hmmm, I need to Google that, must be a looooong list after all those years:

  • USA

End of list. Did it work? Yes it worked, NATO countries were there for the US as promised.

Demand an explanation, make him dig himself deeper, because he will never admit to doing anything wrong.

[–] Exeous@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

This good idea!

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Trump needs to draw a clock...

[–] cdf12345@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Didn’t you know, he’s aced like 4 cognitive tests. He doesn’t know that they are actually to test for signs of dementia, His bragging that he passed four of these test are hilarious. that they’re so worried about his medical capacity they keep testing him is the only reason he’s taken 4 tests in such a short time

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I saw Jimmy Kimmel take the same test. The one he took looks like the one I tracked down and took online to see what is actually on the test.

Jimmy got 100% on it; when does he get entered into Mensa along with Donvict?

(about 12 minutes in)

[–] cdf12345@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

The difference also is that it’s Don himself saying he aced them. No credible evidence. We’re taking him at his word and he doesn’t even know it’s a test for dementia

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This asshole never watched Mighty Ducks 2.

[–] aarRJaay@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Seriously, i just remember what the hot chick in that film says to remember which is which.

[–] pishadoot@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago

GREENLAND is covered in ice

And ICELAND... Is very nice uWu

[–] Tempus_Fugit@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Denmark is so cucked and by association so is the EU. They literally gave the US sovereignty over parts of Greenland after this. It won't stop here. You give an inch and he'll take a mile. This is not how you deal with a bully.

If I was in the EU I'd be freaking out RN.

[–] mfed1122@discuss.tchncs.de 29 points 1 month ago (3 children)

They gave the US sovereignty of parts of Greenland? I tried searching for news on this but couldn't find anything. What are you referring to?

They literally gave the US sovereignty over parts of Greenland after this.

Nothing has happened and that entire article is wild speculation.

[–] bluemite@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What's your source for this?

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 month ago

Where the sun don't shine.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago

"Small pockets" are all the USA needs to land troops. They're making a full-scale invasion easier by appeasing him.

[–] aarRJaay@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Weren't we all there when they "made the call" after 9/11 when we went to war for them?

[–] merc@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

The only time NATO's article 5 has ever been invoked was by the US asking NATO to defend them against the "terrists".

Article 5 is the one that has:

consider an armed attack against one member state ... to be an armed attack against them all

[–] Greyghoster@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Maybe it’s always been about Iceland.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Pretty brilliant. Get all the enemy hardware in Greenland, then invade Iceland.

Björk music and volcanoes for everyone.

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 month ago

This was my thought. When he invades Iceland everyone will reference the part of this speech about use of force and realize it only applied to Greenland.
