This is SO FUCKING STUPID!

For those whose work activities support it, working from home (or staff-driven hybrid) results in the same or better productivity and better mental health outcomes.

Back to the office directives are created for a number of reasons, all of them terrible.

  • Insecure managers can micromanage their staff
  • Insecure executives can survey/show off their 'empire'
  • Unhappy decision makers can keep other people from being happy

Fuck this.

I get way more done at home because there are no needless distractions, like a coworker wanting to talk about his favorite sports team that I don't care about. Now when they are like "hey want to have a teams call". Nope.. busy

Idiots want all those cons you enumerated

It's a thinly veiled plan by the employer to force attrition in the workforce, while trying to keep severance liabilities to a minimum. It's a layoff plan, and nothing else. Anyone left is a slave.

Look we collectively had a golden opportunity to change things forever, but we blew it. We blew it. Collectively as humans, we are self defeating.

RTO initiatives don’t just hurt taxpayers and the employees; it also clogs up the roadways and increases traffic incidents.

Sure there are downsides to WFH, but they’re far outweighed by the downsides of WFO.

Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe told CTV News Ottawa he believes having federal workers in the office more often will be beneficial for downtown businesses.

“We want to hold you hostage and force you to spend money on things you don’t want.” I’m happy that the unions are pushing back, but they need to authorize a strike or this won’t get better.

How much does this cost taxpayers in wasted real estate expenditure and road maintenance and

[–] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 8 points 1 month ago

I'm so curious about this. For a government focused on cost savings etc, you'd expect them to tout numbers showing how this would somehow save money...

Wfh seems like an easy way to attract top talent, cut office costs etc.

Also rental space to fit everyone 4+ days a week.

Road maintence is municipal.

[–] Polkira@piefed.ca 3 points 1 month ago

And federal employees are country wide so thats a lot of municipalities and a lot of tax-payer money.

Not only are we going to be cutting 40,000 of you (btw we will say there is going to be cuts but you wont know who until we send a little email to you to pack your shit) but we are also making you come back to office 4 days a week.

If this sounds good in your head or in a meeting. YOU are the fucking problem. Please resign because people dont want you as a leader.

This kind of news hits you right in the carbon emissions.

I was forced back to the office at the beginning of January after working from home for the last six years. I'm so fucking depressed I can't function. It feels like a nightmare I can't wake up from.

[–] Jakeroxs@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

Same, WFH for 4 years and forced back in last year 3 days and now 4 days is coming.

I'm depressed, calling off more frequently, get less done in the office... Idk how long I can keep it up.
