Oh there is a national emergency.
Their emergency is "threats to national security" such as foreign-born non-whites like me, cuz half of the country doesn't care about constitutional violations and authoritarianism

Because people don't care
I'd wager that reactionary centrism has given a huge assist here.
Because this country is over. We had a good run. Why are people still asking when will Americans do something? It's long past time for the rest of the world to intervene. When has fascism ever been stopped from the inside?
Because apparently only leftists - socialists, communists, anarchists, and even some liberalists, have been calling them that. And remember, we are Enemies of the State.
They're coming. They're coming for me. They're coming for you. We all need to panic. This madness needs to end.
Panicking is the worst reaction. Better to hide your head in the sand.
Because Netflix. The circus is strong.
look in any dictionary: prisons are where people convicted of crimes are held
[A concentration camp is a] place where large numbers of people (such as prisoners of war, political prisoners...
So these prisoners are not being held in a prison. English is silly sometimes.
They're also imprisoned. Though to be fair, all languages are silly sometimes.
But a more accurate word to describe them might be captives, rather than prisoners. But both are correct
