My country has some of the fastest internet in the world, having a video buffering instead of starting immediatly at 4k 60fps is a weird and unusual thing.

Why this random ass latam country has it so good? I don't fkng know, competition probably, as there are many companies fighting for costumers.

Its because of legacy technology debt, the US was "first" to deploy out consumer Internet infrastructure, but that also means before we could deploy each iteration something had/has to be done with the old and that's pricey

Now a developing country deploying internet infrastructure for the first time can deploy straight to fiber because the countries who were first did all the hard work developing the tech and they don't have to worry about ripping out any old infrastructure

How true is that tough, is not like in the 90s there was no internet, there pretty much was.

Modern wifi is actually pretty good now, assuming your OS doesn't constsntly look for hotspots after you're connected. IDK if Windows still does that, but disabling the polling service once I was connected was mandatory to not get hitches or lag every 30 seconds back in the days of XP and 7.

That's... not how you use that meme. This is already the second time I see someone use that meme weirdly wrong.

You and the other person are supposed to do the exact same thing, but for different reasons and usually yours are more controversial. Like in this post it does not make sense at all.

if you want just ethernet

or

https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-MacBook-MOKiN-Ethernet-Charging/dp/B07S8MKJ6Q If you want it all.

You want it all I know you do.

If you don't have android and usb C you may be outta luck on anything other than ethernet. I've never tried my large one on microusb. I don't use apple.

Amusingly, modern wifi can offer higher speeds than Ethernet for the same level of effort. Most home Ethernet is still 10/100/1000. That's megabit, not megabyte. 2.5 gbps and faster nics are not commonplace for both computer and routers/switches/hubs.

You're never going to see 46 gbps on wifi 7 in the real world, but it's still way faster than 1 gbps.

From someone with a NAS for photo/video editing and has looked into installing 10 gbps Ethernet.

My motherboard has a 2.5G switch iirc. But they layout of my house just puts too many walls between the PC and the router, so I bought a 50ft cable and the wife loves it!

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 3 points 2 days ago
