Lots of commenters who didn't read... these were only used for voting on policy. The leadership vote was a paper ballot.
This is more likely extreme incompetence, not some nefarious plot.
I read the article and I didn't think it was a plot, I just thought they were assholes to take everything that isn't nailed down.
Especially since these devices are useless on their own. The cost to the rightful owner is high. The benefit to the thief is low.
