Underneath it all it's Trump and his land holdings.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 16 points 13 hours ago

They're called "concentration camps." Anything less is euphemistic propaganda.

Healthcare? God no. Here's concentration camps instead...

'murica...

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 13 points 17 hours ago

Can't be having all these illegals running around getting all this free Healthcare we don't have!

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org 33 points 17 hours ago (3 children)

I wonder how many US citizens could be given healthcare for that kind of money

With all the money MAGA has wasted, we could have universal health care, great public schools, free college/trade school, UBI, and solve every problem this country has. They could give a million dollars to every American citizen.

But they'd rather throw it away, then spend any of it to improve anyone's life, but a rich person's.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Probably most of the ones that just lost it due to surging costs which cover this expense.

Whenever there is a discussion about helping people, we have to talk about means testing and talk about austerity and the budget and the deficit and handouts and get lectures from the Epstein Class about the honor of working for a living and so on.

When it comes to punching down on someone, whether it's bombing brown people in foreign lands or building out the concentration camps for brown people here (well, they are just planned to be the first), it's SHUT UP AND TAKE MY (the American taxpayers') MONEY!

I thought part of the whole anti-immigrant argument was they are living off the government.

Isn't holding them for an undetermined amount of time exactly that, but with more steps?

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 4 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

You still think these are only for immigrants?

[–] DrDickHandler@lemmy.world 1 points 50 minutes ago

Some people are just very slow. Most Americans still haven't realized that they are stuck with an authoritarian government for the next decades.

[–] JennyLaFae@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 16 hours ago

Well you see, American propaganda has been focusing on racism and xenophobia while having a deep culture of punishment and using wealth as a moral litmus.

They're ok with this because it's punishing people who's crimes include not being born white in the US or having enough wealth to insulate from consequences.

Public outcry only peaked because white people were killed for exercising their rights, too many are still ok with what's going on when its happening to immigrants.

[–] INHALE_VEGETABLES@aussie.zone 1 points 13 hours ago

Hey put that brain away!

[–] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 18 points 17 hours ago

I wonder where they are... Recently a warehouse in OKC was going to be purchased for this, but the seller backed out because it was going to be a detention center.

Actually, they backed out because the locals threw a fit about it. We should do more of that.

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 9 points 18 hours ago

And by turn into they mean empty out. They aren't building anything, they only know how to tear things down.
