In a stunning admission, Leavitt told Bartiromo that mandatory conscription – not seen since the Vietnam War – had not been ruled out by her boss.

Not ruling anything out is their favorite bait, just another way to flood the zone with shit.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 37 points 2 days ago

Yup. It's easy to spot when "news" fits these criteria:

  1. Evokes emotional response
  2. Too dangerous to ignore
  3. Devoid of any proof of something that is actually happening or going to happen
  4. Plausible

The key here is that it's noise designed to wear you out by provoking hypothetical scenarios in your head. This is intended to saturate the minds of the most dangerous opposition of all: The smart and educated. It'll go flying right over the heads of everyone else, but they have other tactics for that.

"It's not a war."

"The war will be over in a few days."

"Maybe...conscription?"

Either they have no idea what they are doing or they are just plain evil. There is no middle ground.

[–] paperazzi@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

They are evil people who don't know what they're doing because they're also dumb and inexperienced.

The motherfucking racist pedo chicken shit draft dodger is seriously considering military conscription, eh. Every single MAGA fuck should be lining up at the US Army Recruiting Office and signing the dotted line for 11B (Infantry).

[–] rozodru@piefed.world 214 points 3 days ago (22 children)

to those thinking "if they did this no one would vote for them again, it would be political suicide"

My sweet summer child, they would do this is if they knew that there weren't going to be anymore elections. if they're 100% sure they can pull that off then they will start mandatory conscription.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 74 points 3 days ago (3 children)

I'm only thinking "Oh great, a convenient way for them to round up all the "undesirables" (liberals, not-whites,critics,etc), execute them if they resist, and send them off to a war unprepared and unequiped so they can be purged in a far less messy way than concentration camps"

If only those people listened fucking ever.

That'll be fun. If I know I'm going to die overseas, with my skin peeled off or bones shattered, or I can die at home with a few bullet holes, I know which one I'll be choosing. Easy enough to make sure bullet holes magically appear in assholes, as well.

Luckily it's all hypothetical for me. Too old, too sick, and too busy not even having a permanent address :/

[–] mirshafie@europe.pub 10 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Fuck man. I wish the best for you. Home insecurity is a massive drain. The American people deserve so much better than this. From an Iranian.

[–] TheHighRoad@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It's a good thing they have all of our voting data and will be able to target conscription on those they don't like, which is exactly why and how they would do this.

[–] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (3 children)

He’ll probably figure out some way to target blue states only.

Why the fuck would anyone want to go fight on the other side of the globe in an imperial war of aggression, when they can use the same energy to fight their fascist government at home?

I've been worrying about this. They'll use conscription to draft anyone anti-maga to fight and use other nations like Iran to do the fighting. If they resist they'll be imprisoned.

Russia does the same.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 71 points 3 days ago (1 children)

DOGE was part of the data gathering scheme for things like this.

I worried about conscription after 9-11 when I was in my twenties. I'm too old for this to affect me (I know, "total war"). Let the MAGA youth go get slaughtered. I truly no longer care. Fuck 'em. Anyone who objects, I hope you're safe.

I used to be such a nice guy. Fuck you, MAGA. I've stopped hating you and I hope you die.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It’s a kind thing to hate MAGA. “Living and letting live” these people is only possible if you simply have the privilege to ignore what they are doing to those who don’t have that ability. That complacency completely strips any option of being a nice person away.

The hate you have for them is not the same hate they have for you. They hate as a basic instinct because they are afraid of anything they don’t understand and they refuse to ever learn anything new. You and I hate them because they’re taking that hate and literally killing innocent people over it before our eyes. Not hating them would be an awful thing.

Lol. I dare them to make me fight for Israel.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I'm 67, and I have so many degrees, they'd have to make me an officer. Trust me, no one wants that.

[–] Man_kind@sh.itjust.works 68 points 2 days ago (13 children)

If there is conscription, they're going to use their social media data from meta and twitter, and any way they can, to select those who are most vocal about being against Trump, so that they die first, maga are happy because they dont go to war, and see trump sticking it to the libs. Meanwhile there are fewer libs to vote against him and fight back.

In fact, they'll probably start by sending off those in swing districts, and may even let them vote abroad woth mail-in votes they intentionally dont deliver and cant be sued for doing so.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago (4 children)

I'm not entirely sure about that. They fill their army with anti trump folk and there's gonna be a lot of fragging

Only Old Draft Dodging Donvict Drumpf knows how much pain I'm in right now...

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

A lot of commanding officers are about to have accidents if they do that.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

Yeah, I thought if anything, Vietnam tought the lesson that the draft is a terrible idea for overseas deployment.

Of course, learning from history is not exactly the style of this administration.

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Lol they'd better not give me any grenades

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Why on earth would the US government risk a public outrage when they can just keep the system as it is and have poor people enlist for money?

[–] FrostyTheDoo@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Probably because they're planning to start more wars than they have bodies of poor people to cover

Plus, if raping children doesn't generate enough public outrage to create consequences, they know they have a green light to say or do anything they want

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 days ago

Fascism is capitalism in decay. As capitalism "runs out of runway", the capitalists start stripping the country for parts. In order to distract people/tamp down revolutionary anger, and squeeze the last profits, they'll reorient society towards total war. War at home and abroad.
