Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

In a stunning admission, Leavitt told Bartiromo that mandatory conscription – not seen since the Vietnam War – had not been ruled out by her boss.

I think they should be the first to volunteer. They were the ones stupid enough to think it was the Democratic Party that was warlike (LOL) and voted for the pedophile used car salesman.

They'd have to drag me out of bed, through training, and then keep me from killing this in charge the second I was armed. Good luck fascist cunts.

they will just put you into a work concentration camp where people will beat you to do those things for free

slave labor is on the table as it has always been here in the usa

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago

If my life is already forfeit at that point, then everything I do will be in retaliation. A person with nothing left to lose is the most dangerous person. If everyone came with that attitude, it would make anything like conscription a nightmare.

I would argue slave labor never went away in your wonderful country. It's just dressed up a little differently. See: for profit prison system.

All of the people I work with regardless of age, gender, race, or bank account are fully wanting a draft to send “libs, LGBTQ, black, brown, etc” people to the front lines to die or war will somehow turn them straight.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Because sending people who hate war to go to war is going to work out absolutely swimmingly, I'm sure. You definitely won't have people constantly going AWOL or refusing orders or, god forbid, organizing as a unit after they've been given weapons and training to kill their superior officers and take the base on home soil for their own.

These people are fucking morons asking for the worst possible outcomes.

What a fine bunch of people you work with.

Have you thought about a new job?

I'm not trying to pick a fight with you ... but did you say anything? Like did you call em out and tell em they're brain is being held down by stupid while being fucked by crazy?

I'm not trying to say go cussing at them... but I see so many stories like this. "At my such and such they said such and such.." And then it's like, what did y'all just let it go?

Make noise. Call em out. Make them uncomfortable. I do it. You say stupid shit like that, then I'm gonna say stupid shit like "Well if this is a holy war, the Christians should go first. God might be mad if you send the gays."

I'm sorry if I'm coming off rude. It just we got to stand up for ourselves. Not just big protests, but even small spaces. It why I dislike the people on here that go. "Posting online doesn't help blah blah." YES the fuck it does. Letting them know in every aspect of their lives that someone somewhere out there won't take their shit makes them mad. It ruins their lives.

So call them out every where. Say something atleast.

Again, I'm sorry, this isn't all directed at you, my friend.

Many black veterans of WW2 went on to support the civil rights movement or to oppose the Klanners in their homeland. I wouldn't be surprised if gay furry drone operators would be the next wave of militant activists if conscription is a thing.

President Bonespurs thinks conscription is a good idea, eh?

Born too late to get drafted into Iraq.

Born too early to get drafted into Iran.

Thank you mama and papa for getting freaky in the 90s.

Edit: btw feds, I smoked the weed in 2024, or 2014, or maybe it was 2004. I can't remember cuz the weed erased all my memories. That's what those schedule 1 drugs do, crazy shit worse than meth. Just typing this is giving me weed flashbacks. Smoke the weed once 40 years ago and now that its already 2006 right now I don't think anyone is fit for service.

Karoline Leavitt refusing to rule out a Draft,” Nilsson wrote Sunday in a social media post on X. “Once the Congressman's and Ivy League parent's children get drafted it'll be a whole other ballgame.”

Whoever this "Nilsson" is, we know they're a moron. Because those kids are getting the best deferments money can buy.

If he tries to do this and gets the information needed from databrokers and social media companies along with leaked data from DOGE's info theft...

And if there is no drive for privacy laws that crush those same companies then I will simply lose all hope.

Edit: also in the same way that the UK is demanding that every country follow their dumbass law, they need to try to force that privacy law back. India, China, the UAE, they be forced to comply or eat shit.
