The problem at the heart of American democracy (besides the conservative embrace of fascism) is that even if Republicans were to get completely wiped out at the midterms Jeffries and his ilk would claim it as a victory for their particular brand of corruption.

The United States is a case study on how corruption begets more corruption. Jeffries and Schumer gained leadership roles for their ability to bring in large dollar donations, which precludes morality and leadership. They aren't just weak leaders, they're uniquely unqualified, and prospered in a system designed to elevate people like them.
