Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Just gonna take this opportunity to recommend Solovair, the original makers of Dr. Martens. Still around, still making excellent steel-toe boots, still great for kicking Nazis in the stomach and groin.

Trump leaned back in his chair and remarked: “You can tell a lot about a man by his shoe size.”

Like what? It's not like anyone has any influence over their shoe size. How dumb do you have to be to think that shoe size makes any difference in a person's life?

[–] Widdershins@lemmy.world 6 points 1 hour ago

Shoe size does make a difference. Walk a mile in clown shoes and you'll know what it's like to be the sitting/always standing at weird angles president.

This just sounds like he purposely ordered his like 6 sizes bigger than everyone else's and is flopping about in some Sideshow Bob ass monstrosities just to try and convince everyone he has a big dick.

Oh good, my tax dollars going to this bullshit as well

I'm sure they were a donation from Florsheim. [Mostly I'm surprised Florsheim is still in business, as I don't think I've heard about them in years!]

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 10 points 3 hours ago

I'm not certain how long, but it's been a very long time since I even heard this shoemaker's name. Boycotting will be so easy.

Read the article and I have to say, while this is definitely just a puff piece, it's one of the most harmless, humanizing things I've read about Trump all year. This shouldn't have been an article in the first place but no one ought to be upset by it either

What?

One female White House official observed wryly: “All the boys have them.” Another added: “It’s hysterical because everybody’s afraid not to wear them.”

Edit: The more I think about this, the more I love it. All of the republicans are probably in ill-fitting shoes and very uncomfortable. Noice.

[–] gibmiser@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Hysterical. Don't want to upset dear leader

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 hours ago

It's probably somehow a dick move on his part, like flood the zone is for the media. If the republicans are uncomfortable, they're less likely to talk back, maybe?

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Unless, of course, hidden in the souls of every shoe is government secrets.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 1 points 7 minutes ago

Shoes don't have souls. That's fine because neither do these guys, they already sold them.
