Probably would've scurried into it when he loses the 2028 run

[–] TwilitSky@lemmy.world 15 points 3 hours ago

I absolutely would have known nothing about the military complex but for Trump opening his big mouth about it repeatedly.

Knowledgeable people are aware that any construction at the White House also involves fortifications and bunkers.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 10 points 3 hours ago

Pfff. He would have posted pics of it himself eventually.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 7 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

America chose fascism. And you're surprised when fascists act like fascists?

[–] 7101334@lemmy.world 1 points 43 minutes ago* (last edited 42 minutes ago)

America is fascism, just ask the indigenous people deprived of their land and life, the piles of dead buffalo slaughtered as part of accomplishing the American genocide, and the dead slaves. This isn't America acting like Nazis, Nazis acted like Americans - Hitler was directly inspired by how we treated migrants at the southern border.

But yeah, while we're on the topic anyway...

The Vorbunker (upper bunker or forward bunker) was an underground concrete structure originally intended to be a temporary air-raid shelter for Adolf Hitler and his guards and servants. It was located behind the large reception hall that was added onto the old Reich Chancellery, in Berlin, Germany, in 1936.

(Note that quote says "located behind", which makes it sound above-ground, but it was an underground bunker).

When the bombs start flying, lock him outside. Ignore him as he pounds on the door, then runs around the building, banging on the windows, trying to make eye contact with those inside.

"Will someone draw the curtains, please?"

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 28 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

This won't be finished in time for him to use it so I guess someone else is pushing for the bunker and they decided to put a ballroom on top to get his approval.

[–] megopie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

Or perhaps the contractors involved are giving him or his associates kickbacks from a construction scam, so, it doesn’t need to be finished ever for him to benefit.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 3 points 55 minutes ago

I think Trump is actually excited about the ballroom which makes it even sadder that some people are using it to control him like a baby.

[–] Small_Quasar@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

Oh, that's definitely happening, regardless of anything else. I bet you Washington has started including necessary corruption in cost analysis the same way Banana Republics do.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 7 points 6 hours ago

I bet they don't even pour the foundation while he still president/alive.

[–] redwattlebird@thelemmy.club 38 points 13 hours ago

The cost keeps increasing. That's hilarious.

But of course he was building a bunker. There's literally no surprises there. It'll be the new den of rape for sure.

[–] QueenMidna@lemmy.ca 23 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

It's not a bunker, it's a data center. Just a hardened one.

[–] JoeMontayna@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 1 points 45 minutes ago

I can understand wanting to build a hardened datacentre. But why choose to put it under the white house.

[–] immobile7801@piefed.social 25 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

I honestly thought there was already a bunker under the WH. Too many movies I guess.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 13 points 7 hours ago

That's for war, this one is for child rape.

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 19 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

There absolutely is along with some of the best medical facilities in the world and more food and weapons than anywhere else nearby, they just tend to put POTUS on AF1 to stay mobile during duress but that place is a fortress on top of a bunker fortress.

[–] Wataba@sh.itjust.works 5 points 14 hours ago

Don't forget the unsigned presidential pardons. The Payday gang hasn't hit them yet.

[–] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 53 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

We figured this out months ago, but the media didn't report it at all. It was never about the ballroom, always the bunker underneath.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 7 points 5 hours ago

Fuck the new billionairre media.

[–] 8oow3291d@feddit.dk -3 points 7 hours ago

Have you seen how enthusiastic Trump is when talking about the design of the ballroom? Trump loves real estate more than anything. So I think it is all about the ballroom.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 292 points 1 day ago (9 children)

So he is building his own Fuhrer bunker.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 7 points 12 hours ago

It's more like a Führer rape dungeon, knowing the Epstein files.

[–] ruuster13@lemmy.zip 4 points 12 hours ago

He really wants the chance to do the funniest thing ever.

[–] raman_klogius@ani.social 192 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ah, so the headline is worded wrong.

He's not seething, he's führerious!

[–] TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website 72 points 1 day ago (3 children)

And we all know what he did last in his bunker

[–] knotRyder@lemmy.ca 2 points 12 hours ago

Enter the access tunnel that went to a submarine that he used to get to Argentina where he died of old age /s

Building a bunker at the White House is probably the most useful and appropriate allocations of funds Trump has done.

It’s a low bar, as they say.

[–] orioler25@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Bubs12@lemmy.cafe 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

The White House is undoubtedly a high value target for US adversaries so having a fortified space in the event of an imminent attack is not useless.

[–] orioler25@lemmy.world 1 points 52 minutes ago

How is it useful? What benefit is it to you for that system to be fortified?

God is Dead. USA is a rotting corpse.

Regular people should be taking advantage of the worlds disorder right now. Reclaim humanity.

Billionaires and their companies...

If only Iran would start going after the companies supporting data centers and the tech bro dependencies.

[–] captcha@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 7 points 10 hours ago

Why is it Iran that must deal with that shit?

[–] SpruceBringsteen@lemmy.world 149 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Sure sounds like someone who is making plans to stay in office past this term.

[–] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 41 points 23 hours ago

He go in bunker, we weld shut from the outside. Everybody win!

After big tech hurled money at him we should have all automatically assumed there's an underground datacenter in the works there.

Is anyone surprised? I mean, did you guys think it was really a $300 million dollar ballroom?

[–] ptz@dubvee.org 168 points 1 day ago

Is anyone surprised?

Yeah, kinda. I assumed it was a $90 million ballroom with the remaining $210 million being funneled to cronies.

[–] celeste@kbin.earth 53 points 1 day ago

I thought he was pocketing it

I'm pretty sure he was bragging about the bunker months ago, while on the shitter on Air Farce One with the door open
