Lori Chavez-DeRemer’s exit marks third high-profile departure from Trump administration in recent weeks

Donald Trump’s Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has resigned in the wake of allegations of misconduct in office, marking the third high-profile departure from the president’s Cabinet within recent weeks.

Inquiries into complaints about her leadership — alleging abuses of her position’s power, having an affair with a subordinate and drinking alcohol on the job — have also forced out at least four other officials within the nation’s labor agency, including her former chief of staff and deputy chief of staff, among others.

Another staffer was fired late last month after she sat for a four-hour interview with the department’s inspector general.

Not original to me.

Trump has so many drunks working at the highest level of government that his advisors should be called 'The Liquor Cabinet.'

Done. Make It So.

I just love that there are multiple people in Trump's administration who are credibly accused of "drinking and misconduct" so you need to actually read their names and titles to know which one got canned on any given day.

I can drink and suck dick, and I promise you, I care a lot more about equal labor than this lady does. Better than that? I can be honest with you!

And I’m just some random New Yorker

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I can drink and suck dick

What are ya doing Friday night?

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 48 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Apparently heading up the labor department

[–] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 6 points 5 days ago

I'm afraid caring about equality and being competent completely disqualifies them from this position.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 41 points 5 days ago (1 children)

What a coincidence that all the people getting fired are women.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 32 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Well, there's Kash Patel, he's looking shaky.

Oh, wait, I see your point.

[–] showmeyourkizinti@startrek.website 16 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Eh, he’s an Indian-American I’d still take odds he out in the next fortnight. Kegsbreath is doing all the same stuff but as a white male I recon his job is safe until after November.

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

I have Gabbard going before Kash just because she's woman and not white.

I wouldn't be so sure on Kegsbreath. Remember he is in prime position to be thrown under the bus as things get worse with Iran, he is openly a lunatic and an idiot which makes him prime meat to get rid of.

[–] zurohki@aussie.zone 7 points 5 days ago

Well, there’s Kash Patel, he’s looking shaky.

Cocaine will do that.

Oh right, I see what you meant.

Trump's scandal-ridden ________ ...reports of drinking and misconduct

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'm not surprised his secretaries keep leaving in disgrace, but I am surprised at how much it just keeps being alcohol and sex with subordinates.

Like, seriously, I'm a hobag, but I don't shit where I eat. How do people make these choices‽

[–] booly@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago

This particular scandal was worse than you think. It wasn't just that she was suspected of sleeping with her bodyguard, but it's that she was abusing her position to make young female staffers communicate work stuff through her father or through her husband (neither of whom were government employees) so that they could sexually harass them. It's fucked up.

If it were just shitting where she ate, it wouldn't even register in this administration. This was worse.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Chavez-DeRemer’s resignation on Monday was not announced by Trump, who had previously delivered news of his ousting of Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem. Instead, the announcement came from White House Assistant Director of Communications Steven Cheung.

The greatest indignity possible.

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

When Trump says he doesn't know her, it may not be a lie this time.

[–] teslekova@sh.itjust.works 7 points 5 days ago

So, yet another woman fired. Yet Hegseth remains.

[–] EpeeGnome@feddit.online 5 points 5 days ago

If had to deal with this administration for work I might resort to alcohol myself. I'm betting she was already an alcoholic before they hired her and that her only qualification was expressing loyalty to Trump.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Bunch of drunks running everything.

[–] maccentric@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Bunch of drunks ~~running~~ ruining everything

[–] 0li0li@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

The party of religious people everybody. Morals up the wazoo!

[–] breezeblock@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 days ago

They brought the swamp

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 days ago

So this is a different one. Not $. K. Got it. Good choices lol

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

So many drunks in this admin and yet Trump himself does not drink...

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 11 points 5 days ago

Pretty sure being a hardcore alcoholic is just about the only way to handle being stuck in Trump's presence constantly. Either that or you gotta start doing ketamine like Elon.

[–] boaratio@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Let's not forget how much Trump hates his dead alcoholic brother.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I don't have a problem with the state behavior necessarily, I have a problem with fascists though. Got to hell bitch.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

I have a problem with sleeping with a subordinate. Especially when you're the labor secretary. Also wouldn't be surprised if she's drunk on the job

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 1 points 5 days ago

I see where you're coming from here, and I'm mostly agree with you, but I also would not be entirely against my boss if she was attractive. To me.

I do not know where you would draw this line here, but said boss being a fascist tool should certainly be against that line in any case.
