This and using my stubble/beard.

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 22 points 6 days ago (1 children)

For sure one of the top 10 unexpected benefits of transitioning for me. Stubble makes for a good scratcher.

[–] cheeseburger@lemmy.ca 9 points 6 days ago

Nice, it certainly is a handy feature I use all the time 😄

I'm ready for someone to tell me which disease this is.

Same for me. Hopefully OP DOESN'T have it, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I started getting scalp excema a few years ago that's primarily triggered by stress and sweating and it's the absolute worst. I have long hair that's extremely important to me but fucking excema makes me want to cut it all off sometimes

Nerve damage, or in my case a combination of neuropathy and carpal tunnel. Most of the itching has gone away since I had carpal tunnel release surgery.

[–] Blue_Morpho@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Omg! That explains the itching in my 20's! Stopped typing a lot (coding) and haven't had itching in many years.

good times hey

My grandmother used to say when your palm itches it means someone’s going to give you money

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I use my beard stubble for it. Feels so good

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 1 points 6 days ago

Ooh that one too!

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 6 days ago

... Its not so much that I get some kind of itch that requires chomping to sate, its that my mouth is almost a hand, and sometimes my other hand is holding something or otherwise occupied.

[–] ShyFae@piefed.blahaj.zone 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I did last year, it lasted days, if not a week. I eventually took some toe nail clipers(sterilized them) and cut out a layer of skin.

Scratched that itch.

You wouldn't happen to not have (decent) health insurance, would you?

[–] Quexotic@infosec.pub 2 points 5 days ago

Yup. From neuropathy. Sucks.

[–] RedIce25@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Like I suddenly have a needle in my palm

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

I have. It takes the deep relief.

[–] Iusedtobeanalien@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

I had chronic urticaria, very severe hives for two years, itch is hell

[–] kat_angstrom@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

The only time in my whole life that this happened was two summers back when I ate at Subway. Had a breaded chicken sub, and about 3hrs later the itching started. I didn't really realize what was going on until next my hands themselves started getting puffy.

Popped an anti-histamine and things cooled down over the next couple hours. Never ate at Subway again

[–] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

Yeah you had an allergic reaction to all of the Subway in the Subway you ate.

[–] LemmyFeed@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Y'all don't use some rough fabric to do it? Like a couch or jeans or canvas or something like that? That's how I do it.

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

Not rough enough in my experience

Cheese grater works every time

We're trying to reach deeper under the skin. It's not a moisture problem.
