Community Rules

You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.

Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.

Avoid AI generated content.

Avoid misinformation.

Avoid incomprehensible posts.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

I'm not a bro, your argument is invalid.

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

The government where I live is about to fall and the Social-Democrats (conservative social-kleptocrats, in this country) are forming an alliance with the far-right

I'll doomscroll all I want and there's nothing you can do about it

Thank you, bros, but it’s 2pm. I’m on my lunch break. I don’t think I should go to bed.

I'm outraged that this isn't normalised at work.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I’ve done it in my car before, if the seat was more comfortable I’d have done it more but I’m too tall to lay down in most cars.

[–] cRazi_man@europe.pub 2 points 1 day ago

I do this frequently as well. I have about 30 to 45 min after school drop off and work starting and I just have a nap in the car. It's pretty comfortable for a short sleep on a reclined driver's seat.

I do 12 hour shifts in the day. Theres and hour long break. Same applies to the night shift overnight and it is normalised for people to find space to sleep in their break. It is about getting this socially accepted in the day.

Thanks guys. Productivity is the only way I measure my worth and I almost took the time to live in the moment.

[–] Candice_the_elephant@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Living in the moment is productive, doom scrolling instead of sleeping isn't.

Yeah, or sitting on the grass and staring at clouds. Both are aimless and worth spending our time on

[–] queerlilhayseed@piefed.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

0 is my Productivity KPI goal.

[–] huquad@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 day ago

Those are rookie numbers. Try negative

[–] architect@thelemmy.club 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That’s some mighty projection you have. I’m sorry you do so little in your life that you feel guilt when you scroll aimlessly.

[–] Bongles@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

I have projection? Yet you claim i feel guilt based on what, my three word comment?

Just arrived at my job, but rules are rules.

That’s a rap guys! 😴

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 5 points 1 day ago

But it's not even 8 am? Well, back to bed I go. Gonna be so productive tomorrow probably.

[–] applebusch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 1 day ago

its too late, its already past noon. just have to try again tomorrow.

[–] MutantTailThing@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Jokes on you I’m scrolling at work.

[–] ignotum@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Boss makes a dollar, i make a dime, that's why i doomscroll on company time

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

I'm at work but rules are rules. Night y'all!

[–] IAmYouButYouDontKnowYet@reddthat.com 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Is this another one of those porno screenshots?

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nah, this is UFC fighters Nate and Nick Diaz. They’re brothers. Not to sound mean, but they have room temp IQ’s. Some of their pressers are absolutely hysterical as a result.

That doesn't mean it's not from a porno though.

[–] FE80@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

It's the cover of "Touchbutt in the Park: Volume 4".

When I get rest I just procrastinate more effectively.
