I totally see this side, however the last time this came up we did a big community discussion about it in which people discussed their different definitions of a "meme" (many argued it includes shared humorous screenshots, and many argued that memes are limited to image macros), but the majority thought that this kind of stuff was fair game and/or didn't want the added restriction.

Hard agree. Screenshots of a text-only social media post are not 'memes' and have no place in a meme community.
