Dr. Fauci is a fucking American hero. Fuck Rand Paul and his eye doctor ass, pretending to be an infectious disease specialist.

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 5 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

Hmm. Didn't the pedophile suggest injecting bleach to disinfectant the covid virus his first term? Why didn't his entire base do that and all die off? Somehow they survived his stupid advice and here we are.

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 21 points 7 hours ago

he's such an idiot... Fauci should have a statue on the NIH lawn, and parades on his birthday.

America, where stupid people who don't do anything like indicting educated people who do their jobs.

[–] homes@piefed.world 5 points 5 hours ago

Holy shit, that feels like 100 years ago

Every once in a while, Rand stands on some kind of principle on a thing or two. Sometimes.

But, mostly, he's still a flaming dipshit asshole and does asshole stuff like this.

Fuck all the conspiracy theorists - doing battle with Covid involved a moonshot and it goes entirely unappreciated by most of the population. And Dunning-Kruger victims like Rand Paul are not helping at all.

His father must be so ashamed of him

The damage being done to the future just by discouraging smart people from caring about the general population must be enormous.

Imagine you worked your whole life (spent it, a thing you don't get any more of and is the most valuable thing you have) to protect and save as many lives as possible, including gaining education and experience making you an expert on what you do, only to live under the constant threat of punishment from imbeciles that wield power like a child with a magnifying glass and an anthill.

Pretty strong deterrent against good people doing good things.

Terrible people are allowed to do the right thing sometimes. Isn’t that what we hope they would do, after all?

[–] SwingingTheLamp@piefed.zip 15 points 8 hours ago

Where's Rand Paul's neighbor when we need him?

For making the cons grrrr mad during Covid. They wanted Fauci to endorse every stupid thing that PEDOnald said during the pandemic.

Even dimbulb donnie was initially behind the vaccine, then learned that his base is dumber than fucking dirt and tried to distance himself from one of the most incredible things in modern science. Of course, he became the Schrodinger's Cat of politics on this - he simultaneously wanted credit for everything vaccine and also didn't want to back it around the mouth-breathers.

But idiots like Rand Paul hear "gain of function" and think there is a conspiracy afoot. This is the same bunch that think it was a "plandemic", that it was meant to harm Donvict, and was "just like the flu" anyway...

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Well yes, that's the reason, but I'm not sure how that translates to an indictment.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

They will just make one up. Rand Paul thinks that Fauci lied about something related to gain of function.

It's funny how much the right likes to talk about "process crimes" and "lawfare", but so much of the bullshit they engage in revolves around it.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I mean, if Fauci was doing bad stuff during Covid, doesn't that make his boss, Trump, just as guilty?

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 4 points 4 hours ago

Trump's actions during Covid should constitute crimes against humanity.

[–] etherphon@piefed.world 5 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I really didn't want to believe it for so long I guess, but we are truly a nation of incompetent morons. The only people who want to work in the government are shitty grifters and a handful of decent people, plus all the geriatrics who have been hanging on to their seats since the civil war and have no idea what is going on in the 21st century. This is a terminal dumpster fire unless big changes are made.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

all the geriatrics

Agree with the rest of the comment but sometimes experience is still valuable, well into old age. Fauci is 85 years old and did a fine job. Also, I would take Biden in a coma over the bullshit happening right now in this administration...
