Not all duvets or covers have those ties. It can be annoying when they’re like that! The burrito or California Roll method works pretty well for keeping the corners in place, though.
To where?

This gives a good idea what it typically looks like if your duvet and cover has it.
Both my duvet and cover have little loops. But one has loops that are just long enough to pull them through the other and tie a knot. Works well enough. I feel like some country that uses a lot of duvets should set a standard requirement for all duvets to have loops and all covers to have ties.
Sometimes (but not always) there are little straps in the corners of each to tie them into place. If you’re ever buying another it’s worth looking for that!
Oh nice. I have these ancient Ikea covers that are super old but my dog likes to dig in my bed so I hang onto them because it's ok if they get ripped.
Magnets. Not kidding. They sell strong magnets with a cloth covering so it doesn't have edges, and you just secure the ends with them.
Do you have a link to some like these? 😮
Look for duvet magnetic clips. Amazon has a lot of varieties, and if you don't support Amazon it gives you an idea of what to look for.
That's a good idea.
I too would love that link!
I eventually just started using a top sheet + bottom sheet. Easier to wash, no spelunking into the duvet to find the corner ties, and can change out the top sheet if I ever want to change the feel of my bedroom! I was finding that I would put off washing the duvet just due to the effort of dealing with it 😵💫
It's the bane of my fucking existence!
No but seriously though. Pisses me off so much!
Flip it every few days. It works pretty good once you're over the initial shock of having the feet end near your face.
blasphemy!
I've sewn buttons into my covers because of this. My blanket already has button holes so that works okay-ish. Need to add a few more buttons though, because now it's sort of sagging in the middle
Why do duvets have covers when u have to wash both anyways?
Maybe another question is how long can the duvet go between washes when you regularly wash the covers? Is it jeans or jackets?
Your sheet needs to have the right amount of friction, so that repeated stress on the duvet won't cause it to slide down into its sheath. Or do like me : live under the tropics. A-ha !
I just use large surplus wool blankets instead. Two of them in the winter. Better heat regulation and more hygienic than bunched up cotton/synthetics.
Use the clips?
