They may not have the gavels yet, but House Democrats are laying the groundwork for a number of investigations into Donald Trump should they win control of Congress in November.

Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif. — who’s set to chair the House Oversight Committee in a Democratic majority — told MS NOW that his team is “already preparing and gearing up.”

“We’ve got a team on Epstein, we have a team on [Trump] family corruption, we have a team on DHS and ICE,” Garcia said. “Those teams are actively working on preparation, letters, research.”

They’re bought and sold. They’ll investigate nothing. No one will be prosecuted. We can call this maneuver the Obama Forward Look. During the OFL, the Democrats will probably pass one symbolic bill that seems like something good but is in reality a handjob under the desk of corporate America. The light of the USA will dim further.

Oh, yah. I just envision Jeffries and Schumer going all out prosecuting Trump and the Republicans. Yup, it'll definitely happen, like right away, about 10 minutes after hell freezes over.

It's long past time for the MAGA comedy act of Schmuck & Jeffries to get the hook, and be dragged off stage. They couldn't have done a worse job if they'd been paid by MAGA, and I'm not convinced they weren't. They should be deeply investigated for corruption.

When the Dems take back the House and Senate, these two cowardly weaklings absolutely cannot remain in charge. They were responsible for the revival of MAGA during the Biden administration, and that is absolutely unforgivable.

It is outrageous that these two losers are STILL in charge, after everything they HAVEN'T DONE. They should already be totally out of office. If they remain in charge after the Midterms, then MAGA will win the 2028 Presidential Election.

What? They don't do anything when given the power. This is how we ended up with this mess. Unless a civil war breaks our at midterms when Trump reveals his hand, they won't have the opportunity to do nothing again.

This should take the form of a continuous, publicly accessible investigation that only continues rather than is summarised when they retake the House.

But it isn’t and won’t be.

It will be a well put, tightly and succinctly presented, work of art of an argument for an additional impeachment and unrealised conviction in the Senate. Just like the Jan 6 Committee.

They should instead be throwing themselves into the gears of govt., but they will take the long term, conventionally optimal strategy of letting the Republicans make their mistakes.

America is so, so frustrating in the face of obvious corruption and incipient fascism.

What Democrats could do is fundraise to change an ICE detention facility into a Trump Hotel, a high security jail to put Trump while we have the probable cause of some conviction, deny him bail like he has countless immigrants and have him investigated and tried for his crimes. As a luxury we can serve sparkling Dilley concentration camp water too.

Does anyone have that "well that just happened" blog meme? I can't find it lol

[–] Khari@feddit.org 1 points 1 week ago

Are they going to do it differently next time?

Democrats plan on doing something pointless and wasting everybody's time. What else is new?

Just fucking impeach the goddamn bastard. If you don't have enough members to do that then you failed as a party to get people to vote for you because of your bullshit centrism.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

Maybe a dozen of them. No one else.
