Honestly, anything that is a for profit enterprise will always take care of their bottom line. Reddit is a for profit enterprise. The writing on the wall for most services outside the fediverse has been there for a long time. Welcome, but understand you're swimming against the tide and adjust your expectations accordingly.
Fuck AI
"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
i posted a ricky quote on the trailer park boys subreddit and caught a site wide ban. lost my 14 year old account and close to a million karma.
it's quiet here in a way that reminds me of the way reddit used to be before it became bot city.
Mind sharing the quote?
paraphrasing, but "im getting drunk as fuck tonight, drunk as fuck, watch me as I burn this piece of shit to the ground" talking about his car :(
Reddit was always a crap shoot for political conversations and it has to have only gotten worse since Mario's brother visited NY.
You seem surprised that reddit banned you but I have to tell you that's what I would have assumed would happen if I made comments there like yours.
I'm not sure you're going to find what you're looking for here. Karma means basically nothing here, and the communities are definitely not as robust as you might want.
Anyway, good luck I guess.
Yeah, not surprised, but it was a last straw kind of thing. That post would have passed muster once upon a time, but the AI mods are not compatible with political posting. Of ANY stripe. I'm just pissed I can't post in my frequented communities anymore. This place doesn't have a community for Minecraft looks like, nor would I expect the types of people who post there to make a switch, let alone get Mojangs' endorsement. I took this opportunity to setup a Substack (not much better, but at least the mods wont butt in unless I get extra spicy, or so they claim), and get on board with BlueSky... I swore off imgur a few years back because the toxic woke got to infuriating- AND I'M A LEFTIST, I suppose I can quit reddit too. SMDH.
If you want to stick with fediverse software, you can try mastodon (somewhat able to interact with Lemmy, Piefed, and Mbin) and Writefreely as an alternative to substack.
I quickly looked for a Minecraft community for you, because I remember blocking one long ago (not my interest anymore), but seems it may have died off. If you ever find a "dead" community you can always ask the admins to make you mod (happens relatively regularly). Alternatively, you can make a knew one if you want to head the effort.
Lemmy 1.0 is coming in the next couple months. You'll probably see an influx of new users then. It might be worth it for you, if you want a Minecraft community, to get started now, so people with the same interest with see an active community and join.
No idea why all the downvotes, sorry about that. Unless I'm missing something obvious?
Anyway, there's WEIRDLY a lotttttt of MineCraft and/or Luanti communities here, although as @Vicinus@piefed.zip said, a lot of them are kinda dead. Here's what I could find, using the link format that keeps you within your instance:

This is probably a little overwhelming I'm sure. Keep in mind some of these are empty, some are archives of communities that migrated to a new instance, and some are on instances that many (including me) would say are inadvisable to interact with. I think it'd be worth petitioning a few of these instance admins to clean up all the completely empty ones. A few are fairly active-ish though! At least by Fediverse standards.
Probably downvotes because in the wrong community. This one is about AI, not Reddit moderation.
Ah that's fair I suppose, but isn't it specifically about Reddit's terrible application of AI in its auto-moderation?
This. That's why it's here. The other stuff is the "why it sucks/additional info"
Got banned for calling some CEO out for exploitation and got permabanned, appealed and the comment was restored but they left the permaban, didn't bother with the assholes after that and it was a 7-8 year old account, sometimes miss how it was but i'm glad to be out.
Welcome to the revolution!
If it makes you feel any better I got banned from uk pol and an admin warning for inciting violence because I said i hope tory voters get to feel the policies they voted for.
Wow. That's certainly telling on themselves on accident there!
Reddit administration is very pro-Trump. I got banned for simply advocating for stricter prison terms against people who harm children. The problem wasn't that I was calling for violence against paedophiles (I really wasn't, just saying we as a society should punish that far more harshly), it was that the Trump-Epstein files resurfaced in the news, so they took it as saying the American president should be punished for his crimes. Oh no! Anyway... yeah, they banned me for that. I appealed, lost. Figured they did me a favour.
I'm not sure it's an AI thing in my case, but I think they do use AI moderation.
