A place to share alternatives to popular online services that can be self-hosted without giving up privacy or locking you into a service you don't control.

Rules:

  1. Be civil: we're here to support and learn from one another. Insults won't be tolerated. Flame wars are frowned upon.

  2. No spam posting.

  3. Posts have to be centered around self-hosting. There are other communities for discussing hardware or home computing. If it's not obvious why your post topic revolves around selfhosting, please include details to make it clear.

  4. Don't duplicate the full text of your blog or github here. Just post the link for folks to click.

  5. Submission headline should match the article title (don’t cherry-pick information from the title to fit your agenda).

  6. No trolling.

  7. No low-effort posts. This is subjective and will largely be determined by the community member reports.

Have you tested your backups?

On the first of every month.

Can I interest you in trying Habitat for your local community?

Is this your project? I live in farm country. Large tracts of land between myself and others. Tho we know each other, and help each other out at times, there's not a lot of 'community' like you would find in a suburb or city. It does look like a decent project tho. I bookmarked it in case someone expresses a need.

It is indeed mine. Yeah I imagine all you'd want is a Signal group or something in a tiny community like that. Cheers!

Well, if someone expresses a need for a community app, I'll certainly recommend it.

  • 92% of the 1,500+ projects I follow via selfh.st/apps host their source code on GitHub

Proceeds to share the Endurain github which is a mirror from codeberg. 😄

I've been looking for something like calino for a while. I know it's vibe coded and likely to be abandoned but it fits the need for something quick and simple for now. I don't know why thunderbird's calendar workflow irks me but it does.
