Welcome to the next Trump food shortage.

we don't want any of these screwworms, aka "US fentanyl", coming across the Canadian border. We demand a Screwworm Czar.

The Trump admin would appoint Marco Rubio as Screwworm Czar, that nametag placed amongst his many others:

I doubt it can survive the winter anywhere near canada.

If farmers keep livestock at all over the winter - horses, sheep, milking cows, pigs - or if animals like bears and deer can survive the winter - then we'll have the screwworm established here permanently.

It's never made it even close, and it won't, as I said, the hard winter kills most of that stuff, here is the range.

Yeah... its not like the climate is changing resulting in shifting ranges.

Beef prices are skyrocketing due to the smallest herds in decades. Due to diseases, deregulation, and climate change. Even if they resolve many of those issues, I doubt the supermarket monopolists will dare lower prices and still toss massive amounts of food in the trash and let them rot instead of lowering prices or giving them away.

Fun fact: In the very early 80s when Ronald Reagan first became president, they had a glut of cheese in the United States. Originally many people just... wanted to throw it away it away in the ocean, but some people persisted and made it so that it was given to needy people. Food doesn't have to be crazy expensive and get more expensive every year, but their profit driven crap will absolutely ruin all the farmland and end up causing very real famine in places that haven't had famine in centuries.
