It's so fun to be able to tell who's a bot on the dating sites.

It's actually really simple: did they message me first? 100% of the time they were bots.

did they message me first? 100% of the time they were bots.

Not true!

Some of the people who message you first are human! Human scammers, human onlyfans girls who want you to pay for nudes, etc.

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Good point, I unfairly took their humanity away when I included them in the bot category.

...But then again they took their own humanity away when they decided to become scammers lol

It’s actually really simple: did they message me first? 100% of the time they were bots.

The problem is, anyone you message is using the same test, thus deciding that you are a bot. The only logical way to handle this is to ensure you start all messages with "Greetings fellow human, I have perused the photographs of yourself that you put online. Not only are they very attractive – they're interesting too. You did the right thing putting them up, and it was very brave to do so. I would lime to get to know you better..." That way no-one will be confused.

Idk, I get human girls messaging me somewhat regularly. Never the ones I want to see, but still...

The difference between bots and humans is that bots dont go on dates

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I have to imagine that means you're at least a somewhat desirable person.

I am not lol

[–] Magnum@infosec.pub 2 points 1 month ago

There's your problem

[–] Anivia@feddit.org 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Is this some kind of American phenomenon? I'm very active on Tinder and get maybe one bot or scammer a year, out of over a hundred matches

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

But still no luck? Consider that the algorithm has engagement as it's goal.

[–] Anivia@feddit.org 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

I've had plenty of dates and situationships, nothing long term ever. But I'm also childfree and sterilized, so dating is a lot more difficult for me. In Germany most women want children

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Right, you could also be looking for something casual, my bad.

[–] Anivia@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh no, I'm absolutely looking for something long term. Just no luck yet

[–] Magnum@infosec.pub 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Declining birth rates say something else.

[–] Anivia@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago

There is a big difference between having less children and none at all. Over 80% of women in Germany get children

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Not sure how it is now, I gave up completely over a year ago after a decade of trying. They were pretty bad ~2 years ago in the US.

When you think about it all trees are cell towers

[–] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Trees were invented by the same government organisation that invented birds. They use trees in combination with birds to spy on us.

[–] Danarchy@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 month ago

“Tap” your phone… tap root… maybe this will wake some of you up

[–] JesusTheCarpenter@feddit.uk 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I know it's about dating apps but I just wanted to say that I like the idea of dressing up random human-made structures like this.

[–] man_wtfhappenedtoyou@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If that's the same tree I'm thinking of, it's an evil man-made creation that uses noise frequency humans can't hear to drive off animals from their homes. My only source for this is the movie Hoppers.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 14 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Uh ... no. It's not the tree you're thinking of. This is a cell phone tower, where your 5G comes from.

[–] DragonOracleIX@lemmy.ml 12 points 1 month ago (2 children)

That would still make it evil. The 5G horses around my house have been stalking me. 5G has to go.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The 5G horses around my house have been stalking me.

Stop carrying carrots in your pockets.

[–] EdgeOfDistraction@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Actually, I'm just excited to see you.

[–] ajoebyanyothername@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

They're up to 5? I thought horses were just GGs.

[–] Nugscree@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

So trees have 5G now?

[–] HeHoXa@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 month ago

"Cell...you...lair?  Haha, what is that?  Are you making up words?  Anyway, my wooden roots way down in this soil sure are providing me with nutrients today."
