Tornado alley is literally moving towards us (and also towards more densely populated territory) due to climate change, and we are woefully underprepared compared to the US midwest who has about a century of experience and infrastructure meant to deal with annual outbreaks of potentially monster tornadoes, and even they are struggling with the changing risk areas and risk profiles. Someday there is going to be a horrible loss of life and property, gone in minutes, and we are all going to realize how complacent we're being about the risks of extreme weather.
