You get used to it when it’s been sinking since before you were born.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world -2 points 26 minutes ago (2 children)

It's disingenuous to equate pre-trump with post-trump.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 1 points 3 minutes ago

Bruh.

Reagan.

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 2 points 12 minutes ago

What, in your mind, changed? To an outsider, the only real difference is that the mask is off now.

I went to a concert last night and it was surreal. We're just going to sit here and let the train hit us and the world. Mass delusion.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 13 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Television affects people’s thinking.

[–] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 12 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Oh come on, TV is so 60's-90's complaints. These days it's TikTok and YouTube rotting minds.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Certainly. Nobody listened in the 60s-90s either.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I ... We're

So you believe you're part of the problem then? Or is it just everyone else who is delusional?

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 hours ago

I'm absolutely part of the problem

Wait I think I know this boat. I am pretty sure it is a sunk boat in miami that was there for a really long time. A lot of people used to go canoe over to it and take pictures.

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 1 points 29 minutes ago

Kind of like all the people who comment on the state of the world but never really do anything about it.

[–] fleem@piefed.zeromedia.vip 3 points 2 hours ago

there was a similar situation near Beaufort SC where a decently large catamaran from the 80s was anchored out in the bay for years.

old empty boat. big enough for a large galley and other rooms

i hopped up on it in the daytime a few times. it was crazy

[–] oxideseven@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 hours ago

Yup. I've been there. There was an older nastier one in Palm Beach too. But not nearly the tourist trap as this one

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 18 points 3 hours ago (3 children)

It’s not accurate, there’s not enough dead brown people and guns and the water’s not covered in oil and there’s not a giant yacht zooming in the other direction, away from this disaster.

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

The water is a metaphor for many things including but not limited to dead brown people, guns, pollution, and billionaires.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Thank you for explaining this to me, I understand now.

[–] joeljoelle@piefed.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 hours ago

that's fair

The women also need to be reaching 300lbs

Edit: Hey the average weight of American women is 170.8 lbs. Sure 300lb is exaggerating but that means there are a lot much heavier.

Downvote away, that's what people think of us for good reason

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 6 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Body shaming is pretty unpopular on Lemmy.

[–] mrmisses@lemmy.world 5 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I thought we were American shaming

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

There's better ways to do it.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 1 points 25 minutes ago

Like using Facebook and Reddit and Fox News and podcaster propaganda to get a bumbling idiot elected.

[–] joeljoelle@piefed.blahaj.zone 0 points 2 hours ago

it was my initial thought at least

That captain is sleeping. No, don't wake him up! That's when he messes up the least.

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

The captain is coming down from coke and aggresively steering the ship in ajy way that will get him more

[–] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 1 points 10 minutes ago

All of the captains that there ever were are war criminals and should be tried and hanged at the Hague.

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago

can’t even afford clothes

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 11 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

They look like adults.

You ever been just sitting in the living room watching TV with your friends/family and look around and notice we're all just staring at screens like zombies? Just day after day of staring at screens, thinking you're doing something but you're not really doing anything? TVs, phones, tablets, monitors. Just screen after screen after screen...

That's what they want.

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 7 points 3 hours ago

…that’s fair

Please add 50lbs each to make this more believable lievable as "Americans"

[–] Darthcapi@lemmy.ml 4 points 4 hours ago

In for a penny, in for a pound
