I went to a concert last night and it was surreal. We're just going to sit here and let the train hit us and the world. Mass delusion.

Television affects people’s thinking.

[–] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 30 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Oh come on, TV is so 60's-90's complaints. These days it's TikTok and YouTube rotting minds.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Certainly. Nobody listened in the 60s-90s either.

Bread and circuses.

You get used to it when it’s been sinking since before you were born.

That captain is sleeping. No, don't wake him up! That's when he messes up the least.

It’s not accurate, there’s not enough dead brown people and guns and the water’s not covered in oil and there’s not a giant yacht zooming in the other direction, away from this disaster.

[–] joeljoelle@piefed.blahaj.zone 9 points 3 months ago

that's fair

Wait I think I know this boat. I am pretty sure it is a sunk boat in miami that was there for a really long time. A lot of people used to go canoe over to it and take pictures.

[–] fleem@piefed.zeromedia.vip 5 points 3 months ago

there was a similar situation near Beaufort SC where a decently large catamaran from the 80s was anchored out in the bay for years.

old empty boat. big enough for a large galley and other rooms

i hopped up on it in the daytime a few times. it was crazy

[–] oxideseven@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 months ago

Yup. I've been there. There was an older nastier one in Palm Beach too. But not nearly the tourist trap as this one

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Kind of like all the people who comment on the state of the world but never really do anything about it.

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 16 points 3 months ago

Bread and circus. No bread, but a whole lot of circus to keep people occupied while they go under.

But, USA is winning at soccer right now, wooooo! 🥖🤡

The one on the left looks like she would get offended if you pointed out the reality that the ship is sinking instead of going along with the delusion.

Like a magician accidentally revealing their own secret mid trick and getting mad if you don't pretend to be baffled at how they just sawed that lady in half and put her right back together.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That boat is probably sitting on the bottom. America still has farther to fall, believe it or not.

whole fucking world right now.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 3 months ago

This one sums it up pretty well. Some peoples feet are wet and some are not but we are not ourselves underwater so we pretend we are not sinking.
