Ah yes, the memories of my childhood, going to the 'state fair' with all the Greek architecture. Nothing says 'downhome america' like greek & roman architecture. WTAF???

I feel like even Trump would be pretty dissapointed about the lack of corn dogs.

This "State Fair" failure is perfect Trump.

This apparently had been planned for several years. The Smithsonian was working in part with other groups. They had top tier musicians planned for free concerts each night, fireworks, state events, activities and displays. All Trump had to do is stand back and let everyone do their thing.

But nope. He had to get involved. All the normal people and groups didn't want to work with his nonsense. This is the end result. A lethargic multi-day MAGA rally, a half working Ferris wheel, a state exhibit for states like Maine where it's a sign that says "Maine" and two chairs, and a few thousand people a day attending and leaving feeling ripped off.

All he had to do was stand back and let it happen.

To be fair, that's at least better than the sign saying "Mane", which is closer to their usual level of competence 🤷🏻

Is what he said to his rape victims.

Love to see it. The only result I ever wanted for something like this. Let everything he does and everything he touches turn to stone and dust.

Call Donald Trump to organize your next disappointing failure of an event!

[–] grimpy@lemmy.myserv.one 4 points 1 hour ago

he’s currently quite busy (dis)organizing the dismantling of most all of the beneficial things the federal government used to extend to the citizens & residents of the USA

The Four Seasons lot is available.

[–] Dionysus@leminal.space 8 points 3 hours ago

The four seasons landscaping next to the dildo store that is.

[–] wizblizz@lemmy.world 8 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Anyone else notice the Israeli flag hanging next to the US one in the empty music tent? 🤮

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 2 points 1 hour ago

Yep. That really sticks out at an event supposedly all about American patriotism.

[–] Sludgehammer@lemmy.world 33 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I wonder what percentage of attendees are actually just press covering the event?

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 3 points 52 minutes ago

Just count the number of people not wearing a camo wife-beater and you have your answer.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 20 points 3 hours ago (4 children)

This looks like an awful layout for a fair.

There doesn’t look like there’s much to do at all.

I’m sure there’s some stuff in those tents, but so much wasted space for what’s probably aesthetic reasons, and that definitely makes it look even more dead.

Fairs and carnivals are tightly laid out so they feel more alive and they can jam in more to see everywhere you look. This is the opposite.

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Someone who's never been to a state fair's idea of one, no doubt. And many of the booths are empty, with just a table and a state stamp for the visitor book.

[–] KingPorkChop@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

This looks like an awful layout for a fair.

It's a workable layout. You just need stuff to do. This is a lawn, some ugly empty tents, a broken ferris wheel, and tears of children expecting something more interesting than a basic city park.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 hours ago

I’ve had family reunions with more to do.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

It almost looks like how markets were organized in some places historically, but those were generally in smaller spaces and had an open middle to facilitate carts, horses, and just to have an open walking area. This just looks dead.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

If they filled the middle with blue ribbon livestock it would be different

It would unironically look better if they filled the middle area with livestock.

[–] qupada@fedia.io 3 points 2 hours ago

And yet somehow despite the lack of horses (I mean I presume) this one manages to pack in 400% more horseshit.

Incredible how that works sometimes.

[–] grimpy@lemmy.myserv.one 1 points 1 hour ago

it’s a pretty poor fair, apparently

[–] unmagical@lemmy.ml 14 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

TLDR: "Melania" is the name of a cow named after the First Lady cause it's patriotic. No one's showing up while Trump claims the crowds are huge.

[–] Botzo@lemmy.world 18 points 3 hours ago

Kids are dumb. "Moolania" was right there!

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 7 points 3 hours ago

RIP Malaria.
