WTAF. This fucking guy.

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 7 points 1 hour ago

Imagine if Dems did this. They'd call it communism, lol. Central planning, price controls, etc.

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 13 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Yup, they published a list of 25 gas stations offering the lower prices and apparently none of them actually existed.

[–] drdalek@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)
[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

I don't understand. You mean that's what they used?

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 hours ago

The spokesperson said the Trump administration does not own, fund, or subsidize the business.

I believe them because they are known to be very honest

So the Freedom Fuel Network, as a "private company" just decided to do this on their own? For the good of society? And happened to price a gallon at $3.47 for the president?

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

A gallon of what though? "Fuel?"

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 49 minutes ago

A gallon of what came out of those hookers?

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I wonder what the angle is on this scam.

I suppose we'll find out soon enough, when dumb MAGAts gleefully offer themselves as the guinea pigs.

[–] Anarki_@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Betting diluted/contaminated fuel.

[–] Zier@fedia.io 37 points 5 hours ago (4 children)

Trump promised $2/gal gas on "day one". Where is the $2 gas?

[–] xistera@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 2 hours ago

Which is funny because gas is pretty much (at least in my area) exactly $2 more per gallon than it was before his inauguration.

[–] mr_account@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago

On any given day, a 2 has a pretty good chance of being somewhere on a fuel price sign

[–] discocactus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

I mean technically since the purchasing power of the dollar has fallen so far, it's somewhat as if the gas costs $2 in 2024 dollars...

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 hours ago

Add it to the list.

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 87 points 7 hours ago (14 children)

Wow. That's really fucking stupid.

The spokesperson said the Trump administration is not involved with the company and is not subsidizing the gas stations, adding that the stations can offer lower prices by reducing their profit margins.

Yes, because famously gas stations make a ton of money on gas sales... pull someone else's leg, mine is long enough already.

"Thanks, Trump, for saving me some money," said a customer based in Philadelphia, where the state average for a gallon of gasoline is $3.98.

So which is true? If Trump and/or the government have nothing to do with it, then IDK, maybe thank whoever is choosing to take a loss selling gasoline below market price. If it is Trump and/or the government, then why is this company saying that it isn't being subsidized?

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 27 points 6 hours ago

The spokesperson said the Trump administration is not involved with the company

Bullshit. These stations are in his pocket

https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/freedom-fuel-gas-station-linked-181004904.html

According to GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan, the "Freedom Fuel Network" was registered on June 23, 2026, to Corporation Trust Company, a registered agent that has previously been used by Trump-related entities.

It wouldn't surprise me if he managed to cut his buddies a sweet deal for Venezuelan oil, and this is how they are repaying him

[–] ShredderFeeder@shredderfood.net 5 points 4 hours ago

Gas is already a loss-leader for most gas stations...it's not their primary business. The shit you buy when you're waiting for the gas pump is where they make their money.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 34 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

They'll sell at a loss to get the President to advertise for them on TV

In a week they'll be the same price, in a month they'll be higher due to idiot tax.

They want people to make their gas station their personality, and trumpets are dumb enough to do it.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 44 minutes ago

Kinda like Buc-ee's and Chick-fil-A?

I still cannot believe the peener toilet guy said this, with a straight face.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

the stations can offer lower prices by reducing their profit margins.

Going out of business to own the libs.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 17 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Since they're MAGA, I'm just gonna assume the ratio of this fuel price to normal fuel prices is equal to the ratio of water added.

[–] kinsnik@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Nah, it is trump; it is probably more water than that

[–] ShredderFeeder@shredderfood.net 4 points 5 hours ago

47% to be exact.

[–] DrSleepless@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

I didn’t buy freedom fries and I won’t buy freedom fuel

I’ll call it right here : this will be a scam. They’ll ask for a monthly subscription card and never deliver

[–] KiloGex@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

I don't friggin buy it. This company is definitely getting kickbacks from the government somehow, and Trump is definitely getting a cut of it.

[–] areakode@riskeratspizza.com 5 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Wasn't it the beginning of they year when he bragged how gas was almost $2? (it was actually around $2.50 at the time) And what was it that made that go up? Did some piss boy get caught with his pants down while Netanyahu snuck around the corner? Who got tricked into bombing his way into a forever war? Fucking idiots...

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Actually Fox News at some point said that if you removed California and another state or two ( don't remember which right now) that the average price was way lower so the high prices were because of blue states. I went to AAA's website which tracks average fuel prices in each state on a daily basis. Removed the states Fox said were to blame and the average actually went UP, not down. So not only was the logic crap, the math was crap too.

[–] AbouBenAdhem@lemmy.world 23 points 7 hours ago

They’re not selling gasoline, they’re selling the experience of living in an alternate reality.

*With purchase of 20 dollar gas station hot dog. /s

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 14 points 7 hours ago

i'd pay eighty-three dollars more per gallon, and fill up the tank, if.. ya know.......

[–] corbindallas@fedinsfw.app 3 points 4 hours ago

someone overdosing on copium

[–] sns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 7 hours ago

And it's only 47% water (salt water).

[–] DrakeAlbrecht@lemmy.world 9 points 6 hours ago

Someone needs to replace the "Freedom Fuel" sign with a hammer and sickle, and "STATE-OWNED AUTOMOBILE FUEL COMPANY"
