The list of things rabbits will fuck is a lot longer than the list of things they won't.
I had pet rabbits. Both brothers. They were commonly giving each other "piggy backs". Both were spayed.

I think anime girls predate Japan's current demographic problems. There was concerns in the past in Japan about overcrowding and anime girls may have appeared around that time.
So this theory is still plausible.
People turn to escapism because they are struggling to make connections in the outside world, not the other way around.

I personally would have blamed the cost of raising children myself ngl.
Cost is like, towards the end of the list of why I wouldn't have kids. It's certainly there, but number 1 would probably be something like "I would never forgive myself for bringing another life into this shitty world unsolicited".
Also pretty up there is "I'd have to grow it inside my body, and then move it outside my body".
