It's like watching blindfolded "show" martial artists

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Seems like they are given pre-programmed moves queued up and not, like, using any sensors and logic to fight dynamically. I would have expected them to be more autonomous. Or the very least, human controlled so you can wire up two actual martial artists to make the bots fight harder than they would against each other because it's okay if you kick a robot's head off.

Ziggo could whip their asses

they also have computers racing 250kmph cars and 130kmph drones

supposedly it's streamed on YouTube but I've never caught one live bc it happens once a year https://a2rl.io/

Ok? Share and download don't work, no URL in the post text (Voyager), how did you do that?

[–] RockaiE@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I'm on Voyager too, but I get a link to the post when clicking share. https://lemmy.world/post/49587352

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Voyager share button first downloads the video and then opens the share menu. This video takes a long time to download

Can I ask where in the world you are? Just curious to do some speed tests towards your country

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Estonia. 150 Mbps connection and it usually reaches the cap pretty reliably. Download speeds are usually a bit over 17 MB/s

[–] eyekaytee@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Surprisingly not as bad as I thought it would be, this is on a 250/100 connection

Unfortunately content on Lemmy is very hit or miss, I actually upgraded the connection from 50mbps upload because the first like 1-2 hours that the content is uploaded it gets absolutely hammered then it slowly drops off till after 12 hours it's just a slow trickle

And even within that first 1-2 hours, if you click play you might get a full speed upload but then suddenly 6 people might all click play at once and saturate the link

But given that I'm uploading terabytes and it's not costing my server admins any cash I think it's ok and I'd rather not sign up to cloudflare

If bunny cdn offers a basic free tier then maybe

Who would watch robots fight like this. They can't even do anything. They have no idea how to fight whoever built them has no idea how yo fight. Its like watching blind people spam moves until something lands.

[–] eyekaytee@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

For most people seeing robots even move like this at all is considered crazy

Most people are also thinking if they have reached this point, where will they be at in 5 - 10 years

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I would agree if the movement looked dynamic.

[–] eyekaytee@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

you don't think a flying roundhouse kick to the head looks dynamic?

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 month ago

No it doesnt. It looks like the same kick over and over. It fights like the guy who has trained 1 kick 10,000 times and has no sense of distance.

I dont think the robot can properly move or throw the same kick slightly different. It can just detected a target and fire off a generic kick. Mechanically its cool but we've plenty of examples of robots doing these acrobatics.

Idk maybe it would be better if it was actually trying to do real martial arts. If this thing dynamically circled and popped a well timed jab with some head movement I would be extremely impressed.

I didn't think family matters would get a reboot
