You can always

  1. try to change a situation
  2. try to remove yourself from a situation
  3. try to accept a situation

The worst thing you can do it be lazy about changing / leaving a situation yet constantly complain about it.

I always hate when people say “it is what it is” but they’re right. It is.

[–] lemmy_get_my_coat@lemmy.world 1 points 32 minutes ago

That's why I say "it's what it's".

[–] TheLeadenSea@sh.itjust.works 37 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

there's a secret third option "I don't know if I can do something about it, I keep trying different things, and things keep failing through and going wrong, and I keep trying again and getting up hope, and I keep failing and being disappointed, but should i try other things? but wait maybe this'll work, that's exciting! But what if it doesn't work like everything else... aaaaaaa I'm stressed"

then it does make sense to worry

Oh now I get it!

[–] MeatPilot@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 hours ago (3 children)

What if my problem is a bear chewing on my face?

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Less worry, and more fighting for your life.

Consultation fee will hit your inbox in a few days. CC'ing in your next-of-kin too. Just in case...

One way or another, you won't have to worry about it soon.

[–] protogen420@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Can you do somethng about it? No, then don't care

[–] MeatPilot@sh.itjust.works 1 points 52 minutes ago

It's bearly worth worrying about.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 25 points 5 hours ago

Can you do something about it?

☐ yes
☐ no
☒ maybe?? something might occur to me if i just think hard enough about it?? not like that hasn't worked in the past.

[–] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 15 points 5 hours ago (3 children)

What if I can do something but I'm too lazy to do it?

[–] zedgeist@lemmy.world 1 points 53 minutes ago

Smoke weed about it

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 18 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Then you're ahead of the game because you already weren't worrying

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 14 points 4 hours ago

I can worry and not act just fine.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

Alternatively, what if you can do something about it but you're not sure what that is, so you're caught in decision paralysis. And then outsider observers call that "lazy" because it's easier than empathizing with someone who is experiencing a pronounced difficulty?

[–] UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 hours ago

I have one problem, existing on planet earth. Only 50 more years left of my shift on earth.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

Me, asphyxiating: "Nothing I can do about this except tilt my head back and take a deep breath and... oh wait".

[–] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 1 points 4 hours ago

All I see is a head blissfully rolling off of a pathway into the sweetness of oblivion, one question at a time.

Shikata ga nai

Bonus points if you get the reference.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 3 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

Reference? That's just a saying.

[–] Contramuffin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

For anyone reading this who doesn't understand, shikata ga nai is a common saying in Japanese that literally translates to "nothing can be done." It's used very similarly to the English saying "it is what it is." It's not a reference insofar as just speaking in another language isn't really a reference to anything

[–] db2@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 3 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

That's okay, I'm just confused/intrigued at how anyone is going to identify a reference based on a common saying. Like "Goodnight, sleep tight" or "goddammit" or "kids these days". I'll be lurking to see what happens :)

[–] db2@lemmy.world 1 points 34 minutes ago

Now I want to tell you what it is but I don't want to make it too easy 😆

[–] Contramuffin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Hi

Updoot if you get the reference

[–] db2@lemmy.world 1 points 35 minutes ago

Cute, but wrong. Don't get upset that you don't get it.
