As you all know, our game initially released on the PS4 in 2019 for $49.99. It was later rereleased for the PS5/Pro in 2024 as the Expanded Edition with greatly improved graphics and a collectible widget inventory item. These widget doesn't effect game play, but you can see it in your inventory so it's super cool and collectible. In your in-game inventory, where you get it by default.

The game became so popular that we then released Ultimate Edition on the Nintendo Switch. It was a great technical challenge to get this game to work on the Switch, but with hard work, much lower quality textures, a much lower resolution, and locking the framerate to 30fps we managed to pull it off. The Ultimate Edition released in January 2025, and included both the collectible widget from the Expanded Edition and two new collectible widgets.

Now in 2026 we're finally ready to announce the release of our long awaited PC port! Because we know the PC audience wants the absolute best, we're releasing a direct port of the Ultimate Edition. It will include all 3 widgets, along with all of the optimizations made along the way! You'll be able to enjoy OurGame at it's highest quality, exactly as seen on the Nintendo Switch!

You know it isn't a Square Enix game, because the PC port isn't just the mobile port of a 35yo SNES game uploaded to Steam for 30 bucks.

Ouch, I'm sorry but that one is not correct. We were looking for "Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of Dem Elusive Textures S." The "S" stood for both Sony and how they were Shitting on their fans.

[–] nullspace@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

One copy of Dragon Quest, please!

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

You are a fucking WINNER! You win: disappointingly easy combat that stretches out for 100 straight hours of series and genre norms that don't surprise you at all or have any real emotional impact and yet people online rate like it's the messiah of forgettable JRPG sameness.

And... a pointy hat!

As a ”Just coffee, black” guy, I’ve never had this problem in any coffee shop ever

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 23 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Because it's just the imaginings of someone who thinks they're superior for wanting their coffee black.

(Also, lol, why would you ever go to a coffee shop for that? You can very easily make it at home. Even when traveling, a lot of hotels can provide you with plain coffee just fine.)

[–] red_tomato@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

why would you ever go to a coffee shop for that?

Sometimes I meet friends at coffee shops

[–] teslekova@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

Because you like coffee and don't want to carry a thermos all day?

[–] MrOtingocni@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Do you drink your coffee black?

[–] TheYojimbo@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Same, that's why I linked the kym page, some responses are on point

[–] TheRealKuni@piefed.social 19 points 2 weeks ago

I think this is my favorite:

[–] Lauchmelder@feddit.org 3 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I mean black coffee is pretty much by definition the base ingredient for all other coffee derivates. It's insane to think a barista couldn't handle it

[–] dalekcaan@feddit.nl 9 points 2 weeks ago

"Grrr, I hate this customer! They're making me do less work than usual!"

[–] Smif_N_Lenin@piefed.social 1 points 2 weeks ago

At the very most they'd just ask if you want an Americano or just drip coffee

[–] teslekova@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

Indeed. If you have an espresso machine you just pull a shot or two and top it up with hot water instead of milk.

Fucken coffee, black, straight up.

xbox series x can emulate practically anything for fellow console peasants

[–] yoriaiko@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

That would be very only reason why I would be into remake - simply post, without all the scam fuckin cashgrabs. Fcuk remasters reboots remakes, that's all scam.

Fcuk remasters reboots remakes, that's all scam.

Sometimes. This month however we’ve gotten two pretty good examples of how to redo a game.

1: Black Flag Resynced, despite Ubisoft being as shitty a company as they come, is excellent. Mostly the same gameplay, new graphics, new story content, new worthwhile side missions. I’m really enjoying it.

2: Halo: Campaign Evolved, is also really well done. They moved to Unreal Engine but the game still very much feels like Halo. They’ve included some mechanical upgrades from modern FPSs, including aiming down sights for guns without scopes, sprinting, and the ability to steal vehicles while the enemy is driving them. They also overhauled some of the missions, because level design has come a long way since 2001. So The Library, for example, is no longer as repetitive as before. It’s still a meat grinder of shotgunning Flood, but it’s more varied in encounter and room design. A friend and I are playing through on Legendary and it’s been exactly the right kind of frustrating (for us) to make a game fun when you succeed.

Just recently my 12-year old niece wanted to try some first-person shooters. We played Halo on the 360 and she struggled with the controls at first, but started getting a little better. It was much harder for her to find the way forward with the level design. She would see the spectacle in a cutscene, but not really be able to take in if something plot-relevant or something leading her to the next checkpoint was said.

We tried the Master Chief edition and she loved the switch to mouse and keyboard for aiming. Struggling against the controls less, she instantly started figuring out how to peak corners and reload behind cover. Following the plotline got a lot easier with subtitles through the explosions. Watching her really made me aware of the progress in level design. On the Pillar of Autumn, first level, you try to move forward and there's an explosion, so you see you need to path around it. Solid. Then, you try to move forward just a little bit later and there's another explosion in front of you, but this time you're supposed to keep going forward through it. She explored every nook and cranny of that space before moving forward. Without a gun, you encounter Covenant, should you turn around and go the other way? Nope, just push through it. We had an easier time with co-op, but it was pretty eye-opening to see all the friction points without years of playing these.

Watching clips of Campaign Evolved, it identifies and adjusts those exact points of friction. They also expand the role of Major Johnson in the 2nd level instead of nameless marines. They rely more on nav points, which makes sense in-universe, though I tend to prefer level design that doesn't require them. It also looks like they cut some of the moments that required back-tracking and that's a good change.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh shit that sounds really good

[–] teslekova@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, I am gonna play it. Sounds great. Played halo when it first came out but only a bit.

[–] makeshift0546@lemmy.today 1 points 2 weeks ago

Most have been fan fantastic and well done. Cash grab 🙄 the gamer class is so fucking whiney sometimes.
