I really wish they could make some kind of mini truck design where the bed and cabin are huge but there is no engine in front. Since its an ev the bed can be lined with batteries and the motor is very compact. I love a mini truck and its so practical and fun to drive. Pickups are just too big.
There was an article linked at the bottom of this one for the truck I really want - the Telo MT1. I'm willing to pay more to have a compact and capable vehicle. And there's an option for a full solar panel roof.
How is this more expensive than the Slate?
It's got 50% more range, so it's probably got a bigger battery. Lithium is expensive.
For all the "make it a car" folks out there - Ford F-series is the best selling vehicle in the US and Canada. That's just how fucked we are.

I wish ford would stop doing the ugly af square nose design. Make EV cars and make them aero, please.
I’d really like to see an EV designed with no mirrors. Not like Tesla: the displays for each side mirror should be on each side. And the whole vehicle should be aero, yes. But for a truck you’d end up with something that resembles the cybertruck, but with rounded corners.

Sucks that it has a touchscreen display and built in Apple Maps, a infotainment that has physical buttons and no systems to track you would sell me on it

I have a Mini Cooper, and we took it in for service and got a loaner 2026 Mini, and it has this massive, ugly touchscreen.
Look at these gorgeous physical toggles! And even more overhead! All gone! FFS!
The toggles were the best part of the Mini!
Wait, they took out the toggles? That is a ton of the personality of the Mini
Yes, it's now one massive round touchscreen. Takes like 4 different taps just to change the AC temp.

I hope people start suing over this shit. My 2010 had buttons for rear ac temp up/down. Now I have to find the climate button on the screen, wait for the climate screen to load, find the "rear" button, wait for the rear ac screen to load, BAM head on collision.

Wow, that's the one of the ugliest pickup trucks I've ever seen, second only to the cyber truck.
With how big the cab is, it almost looks like they took an SUV and bolted on a tiny truck bed sticking out the back. The proportions are very strange.

Oh no. Nevermind. Either they're cutting corners on what actually matters or their selling your data. Probably both.
I just bought an ev. The touch screen is being tracked like a web page. They know how often you use the normal basic features.
I wish they were upfront about the data selling. Factor that into the price.

28.3K really is cheap in this context but I'm skeptical that this would be anywhere close to the price when it comes out. Seen too many "40K" that turn out to be 60K in reality. I mean in any context, the avg sale price of new vehicles is over $50K.
They are likely using LFP batteries instead of ones that take some of the more expensive minerals like cobalt. That is a huge part of the cost of EVs, and LFPs should help keep the price down
They're using LFP in the Mach-e as well and they're losing money on every sale at signuficantly higher price tag. So I think it's gotta be something else.
From what I understand that has more to do with the amount of money they are putting into R&D, not cost of materials for each vehicle. Media has been spinning it, but it is not a 1:1 thing

They were one of the first non-tesla manufacturers to have a passable EV though? It's called the Mach E. Now they're going after the market that actually has decent sales in the US, with more cheap crap EVs to follow the pickup truck.
