I'd put it in a container within a container within yet another container. That shit spreads

I wish. Can't hold its own against the other weeds in our garden.

Put some catnip in and watch everything else fade away

Ooooooh, bonus, your yard will always attract cats!

I have mint. Pretty much only use it for pasta and chilli sauces now and then, but it's a very easy "set and forget" plant to have in a box planter.

Mint in pasta?

I'm intrigued. Explain further.

You can make pesto with mint instead of basil (though using both its best).

Usually toward the end, I'll crush them into the sauce with chilli flakes. That's my final stage of the sauce while the water goes on boil getting ready for the pasta, along with any last final tweaks of herbs/salt/pepper then too. Better with lamb and/or pork mince.

Goes well finely chopped in white sauces with some lemon too. Usually only do that with chicken.

Is it sad that I immediately began to worry that mint was yet another causualty of the CDC's destruction when I saw this?

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 2 points 47 minutes ago

I'm high, and didn't realize that mint connected to all of the things listed. So I thought mint was just another of the things listed. So I began looking for lettuce. Then I saw Linux, and got so confused.

My mom already does - and all she uses it for is for tea, and even so very rarely. Ah well

It's also a natural pest repellant. Fleas, rats, mice, bed bugs. They all hate the smell, and will avoid it.

I pla ted some mint around the house to hopefully make it smell good, some Rosemary as well

[–] csolisr@hub.azkware.net 2 points 2 hours ago

What are the chances, she also planted rosemary! And oregano, but that one unfortunately dried out

I've tried growing mint in pots but it always gets covered in aphids and whitefly.

Mint is a treasure

Chewing on a mint leaf is one of life's treasures.
