Over trump's dead body (literally).

Trump is not planning to willingly leave in 2029.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 175 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Please be the republican nominee.

[–] lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world 139 points 4 days ago (5 children)

Keep in mind that is exactly what I thought when Trump announced his candidacy in 2015.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

Nominees don't matter anymore. They won't let anyone who will make a meaningful difference in. If someone meaningful gets in, they'll be blocked from making any changes.

we lack the pitchforks and the will to do jack all about anything.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 18 points 4 days ago (8 children)

Hmmm.

You make a good point.

On the other hand, look at the history of presidents and their parties. It ALWAYS swaps parties unless there is a particularly popular vice president. Literally, back to Washington.

The US isn’t like Japan where the LDP wins consecutive elections for decades on end.

The republican candidate was GOING to win in 2016.

We are now in a time of chaos. I feel Dems will probably sweep the midterms and maybe win in 2028, but it’s unclear. We’ve only had one nonconsecutive president before.

I wouldn’t put money on James (Vance).

Remember when the Supreme Court interfered in the presidential election because of hanging chads and effectively kept Gore from winning, thus leading somehow to the death of Harambe and bringing us to the bad place dimension where everything always gets worse and almost always in the worst way possible?

Yeah.. like you said, history likes to repeat itself.

Guy who lost a war with Iran wants to be president.

Must be the type who has failed upwards his entire life.

[–] theedqueen@lemmy.world 27 points 3 days ago

You guys laugh, but there seems to be enough wannabe-macho small-penis dudebro idiot voters that could get the loser elected. Do not assume it won't happen.

Gonna try and pull a Putin with Trump?

Take Trump as his running mate, then if he wins resign so Trump can be President again.

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

That is against the constitution. The 12th amendment says if a person is ineligible for president they are also ineligible for VP

Only thing possible is running for congress and then being speaker of the house, then both VP and President resign.

[–] flop_leash_973@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ah you're right. I had to go back and read the specific text. Been so long since I have sat down to read any of it I had forgotten that was covered.

I stand corrected

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

There’s still merit to what you said. Trump is a convicted felon. That alone he should have been impeached and removed but they let it slide. If they let that go who’s to say they don’t let other stuff go too.

Wonder if he and Trump are going for a Putin/Medvedev situation.

[–] Sylvartas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Didn't Putin allegedly get a little mad at this situation ? Trump couldn't mentally survive not being officially the big guy for a day.

[–] nickiwest@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That is likely true. I can't imagine him calling anyone else "sir" or "Mr. President."

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

That's why the felon in chief flew off like a gigantic baby before President Biden was ushered in.

The delicate flower couldn't even deal with it for a few hours because he's a terrible human being.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 32 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Do it! Dems need any help they can get.

[–] clanker_victim_555@lemmy.world 25 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Isn't that what they thought they were doing when they talked about Trump so much? Turning the joke candidate into this

Oh fuck, I need to keep my wallet closed. Last time a person who obviously cannot get elected became the GOP candidate, I bet a lot of money against his win. :(

Fortunately, I did the same 4 years earlier when the same happened :)

Hilarious, because we all know it's just going to be the orange pedophile again.

Completely normal for a genocidal empire that murders schoolgirls with impunity.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 19 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Trump vs Hegseth, who is worse?

I vote tie.

[–] Kayday@lemmy.world 60 points 4 days ago (7 children)

Hegseth is worse because he will live longer.

Does Pete Hegseth’s liver know it’s expected to make it all the way to 2028?

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 4 days ago

The hateful ones live the longest.

[–] SaintNectar@lemmy.zip 5 points 3 days ago

Postponing release of Epstein files as long as possible for the pedolord

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 15 points 4 days ago

We all thought the current president was going to lose in 2016 when he was dicking up the republican primaries. Don't discount these hacks. RFK would be the strongest challenger if not for his speech impediment, how is he going to run a nazi rally with that voice?

Vance won't get it, Rubio won't get it.
