Your opponent (or sane humans in this case) can’t keep up with refutation or reality check. I don’t know if he has the wherewithal to know he’s doing it, but the play is to just overload with bone-chillingly-evil nonsense so some of it slips through.

Anyone unfortunate enough to have a narcissist in their life knows that trying to get them to admit to wrongdoing, nevermind apologizing for it, is something that is not likely to happen. It's the equivalent of dealing with a cornered animal - and usually they are very adept at turning things around on those trying to pin them down, casting themselves as the victims in the process.
