….it didn't take long for certain fans to point out that Dolly Parton's Imagination Library – a literacy initiative which has gifted more than 330 million books to children since 1995, and one of Parton's many philanthropic causes - has been defunded by the Trump administration. … …Now, in one of his latest AI slop posts, Trump took to Truth Social to share an illustration of him arm in arm with Parton walking around the White House.

"Donald Trump faces backlash" if I had a buck for every time I heard that phrase I could buy a house. This phrase has lost all meaning because there's never any backlash. He'll just do something worse to distract you from all the other shit he's done and then you forget.

It’s called a gish gallop. It’s a debate tactic where you just throw as much shock nonsense out as possible as fast as possible. Your opponent (or sane humans in this case) can’t keep up with refutation or reality check. I don’t know if he has the wherewithal to know he’s doing it, but the play is to just overload with bone-chillingly-evil nonsense so some of it slips through.

and it's been an exhausting 10+ years of this bullshit.

That's also the playbook of fascism. Take away so many laws and rights then when one or two get overturned, let them celebrate while you prepare the next batch of laws and rights to strip away.

It's the firehose of falsehood when it's used as a form of governance.

[–] RustyShackleford@piefed.social 14 points 1 week ago

He’s a narcissistic sociopath who’s a compulsive liar. He’s not smart enough to know what a gish gallop even means.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He's a narcissist so he really doesn't think he can do any wrong. Thinking a narcissist is going to process shame in the same way others will is delusion.

Anyone unfortunate enough to have a narcissist in their life knows that trying to get them to admit to wrongdoing, nevermind apologizing for it, is something that is not likely to happen. It's the equivalent of dealing with a cornered animal - and usually they are very adept at turning things around on those trying to pin them down, casting themselves as the victims in the process.

I unfortunately do have a extremely narcissistic grandma, so I know the deal.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that.

Nobody deserves a good back lashing more than Donald John Trump.

Doing something to distract is what he is doing with this. Our shitposter in chief. From his great mind to the llm model to the internet.

He needs to be executed, and gitmo can house his allies, appointees, and donors

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They've collectively used enough of our resources. They should all be executed.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They should be gift-wrapped and sent to Iran as reparations.

We should be able to convict and execute more than a few others for treason.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 49 points 1 week ago

Again, let's not focus on his crazy, let's focus on the amazing Dolly Parton:

Here's Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss, & Billy Dean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PYmgW_Sxbs&list=

[–] wirebeads@lemmy.ca 28 points 1 week ago

Rapists have no shame, apparently.

What did dolly think about those Epstein files?

[–] VeryInterestingTable@jlai.lu 26 points 1 week ago

Backlash? When Punishment? Fucking face consequences already.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago

What a trashy individual. He has no class at all.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

Each day when it (infortunately once again) opens its pig-like eyes, its first thought is, "what is the most filthy, disgusting thing I can do today?"

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Distraction. And he does not care, he fucking posted Obama as a monkey, his leaking diaper has no boundaries, he will shit on anyone and anything.

He isn’t distracting. His mind is just gone.

[–] nosuchanon@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

He has no shame.

[–] postman@literature.cafe 14 points 1 week ago

Even he wouldn't have dared to try this on while she was alive.

[–] Stefan_S_from_H@piefed.zip 13 points 1 week ago

Backlash? There's a backlash every day. Does this change anything?

[–] Ravenheart@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 week ago

Narcissists always have to make everything about themselves.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

Where are those Epstein Files?

[–] MrSulu@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 week ago

For some, this was "too far". We can acknowledge that the too far point was passed years ago. However, if this accelerates the destruction of his presidency, I'm going to big this up too.

[–] AlteredEgo@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sigh. Yes disgusting. Why do you show me this disgusting image then? Do you think I need more disgusting images of his asshole? Haven't you learned that this dynamic works for him and energieses his followers, and distracts and paralyzes the enemies?

Just fucking why show me this disgusting image? You're doing his propaganda for him.

[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

To be fair, a lot of MAGA are having their brains broken currently over Dolly - because 99% of people love her.

(If that's because "big boobs" or LGBT acceptance or the library is besides the point. She found a way into most people's hearts somehow.)

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 week ago

Yeah, I don't think I've ever heard a bad thing about Dolly Parton. She did so much good for others and had so much compassion, it makes this shit all the more insulting.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

I cannot wait until the day Donny is dead.

[–] demizerone@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

It's good to know the unanimous sorrow felt by her padding will be the opposite for him, and he knows it.
