I kind of feel like they did forget why it happened and why it will likely happen again.
Americans were told to never forget that it happened... not WHY it happened. That would involve too much self reflection and criticism of American imperialism.
This lack of understanding of WHY, is the why people lost their shit when Hasan casually dropped we deserved it.
Could have made it a mandatory holiday.
