If you really don't want to sign up for EhNow (which is Canadian), I added a screenshot with the info. EhNow link: https://ehnw.ca/e/s2xmHJqhTU6vvC0uHNFeZw

Edit: Alright people, here's a new link. Don't worry it's not a phishing attack, it's not spam, or whatever other horrific thing you're assuming, you don't have to go through the horror of creating a free account on a Canadian website, it's all right here on Lemmy where you created a free account on a Canadian website. I am simply trying to spread the word about this protest. https://lemmy.ca/c/never51

OP says that this is a link from ehnow.ca but the link in the post is from ehnw.ca which is missing an "o" and that is very common on fishing attacks.

I wouldnt click on it until OP explains why the domain name is different.

facepalm

phishing attacks? are you serious? It's not a phishing attack.

I'm trying to spread the word about an anti-annexation protest.

You're paranoid because there's no O?

No, I don't know why. I didn't make the website, nor do I really know how URLs work. It's a legit link though. Your paranoia is unwarranted.

I think it has something to do with linking to the app version vs the website version.

I didn't realize people on here were THIS paranoid.

Do you think youtube links are phishing attacks when it's a shorter version?

"this link says 'yt' and not 'youtube' clearly it's a phishing attack."

Just...wow.

What you call paranoia is basic InfoSec 101 training that everybody in a company must learn. If the domain name of a link or an email address has any difference with what you expect, then its most likely a phishing attack.

Also the fact that your account was just created yesterday is very suspicious. I would discourage everybody reading this to click on the links of this post.

I feel like this would be more effective if it were held in the US. Maybe the Target parking lot in Amherst NY outside Buffalo where there are regularly still Ontario-plated vehicles every weekend. Target and Trader Joe's evidently are more important than sovereignty for them.

[–] ehj@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 hours ago

I ain't crossing that border.

[–] bitwise@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 hours ago

Trump would love this; he'd sic ICE on them and call them terrorists.

"Canada INVADED us to try and shut down our country in collaboration with ANTIFA! They're nasty and OUT OF CONTROL! Governor Carney isn't doing anything about it so we might have to step in to get things under control again..."

They'd all get moved around the US to limit the effectiveness of protesting at any one facility and then they'd deport most of them to some other country just to be dog cunts about it.

I feel like this would be more effective if it were held in the US.

But that would require Canadians to cross the border, and we aren't doing that these days.

A link to a login wall is just spam.

[–] DeadEndLink@lemmy.ca 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Using this mantra from now on.

[–] ehj@lemmy.ca -1 points 3 hours ago

That's a sad excuse for a "mantra"

[–] ehj@lemmy.ca -3 points 14 hours ago

It's not a "link to a login wall" It's an event. I guess EhNow (which is kinda like the Canadian version of something similar to twitter) doesn't let you view it without an account. Bummer.

Looks like the content is locked behind a login, any way to make this visible without signing up?

[–] ehj@lemmy.ca 0 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

I suppose not. Ehnow is a Canadian social network though, found on Tod Maffin's unplug America site (which I don't have the link to right now but just search for it) it's not like you'd have to sign up for some Zuck Meta crap. I don't even use social media normally but I sign up anyway to give the site one more user vs the 'murican sites.

Edit: I changed the link to a screenshot you that you won't have to log in to see what this is.

I'm, uh, curious. Protesting what? To who?

Like, I get that the American government has been exceptionally shitty, but I don't see what a Canadian protest is gonna do about it.

I pray that we'll return to being a reasonable neighbor asap. I promise we're feeling it more than you are.

I don’t see what a Canadian protest is gonna do about it.

It reminds any Canadian still spending time or money in that shitstain of a country, that they are openly supporting fascism.

[–] tangeli@piefed.social 6 points 18 hours ago

I hope to protest the belligerent, destructive foreign policy of the United States and make it clear to all concerned that in the opinion of the people of Canada, that the United States is an adversary, no longer an ally and not a country that can be trusted or taken at its word.

[–] reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net 3 points 17 hours ago

At the very least the canadian government will be more hesitant to appear to roll over and submit

[–] ehj@lemmy.ca -4 points 14 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

You sure got me. Are you also responsible for everything your government does?

[–] ehj@lemmy.ca -3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I don't pray for my government to do things, if that's what you mean. I do things like vote, and protest when the big country next door threatens to make me part of the 51st state and constantly and relentlessly bullies and insults me.

[–] cerebralhawks@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

You should read what they wrote. You’re protesting things you say you don’t like but then you say you protest people who agree with you. Pick a lane? Or maybe everyone is your enemy?

[–] ehj@lemmy.ca 0 points 3 hours ago

I don't remember saying any of that. Did YOU read what I wrote? Is everyone being my enemy some sort of guess on your part? This kind of stupid shit is exactly why I left reddit. Learn how to have an adult conversation instead of "Oh maybe you're this oh maybe you're that oh you think this and you think that" Go outside.

Link has been changed to a screenshot.
