Well, it wasn’t so much the shitting. She could have handled it right then and nobody would have heard about it

It was the smearing shit across the entire venue, other athletes, and all the equipment, to the point where they had to do an overnight emergency carpet replacement. Then going home and bragging about it in a now deleted post, humiliating both Hyrox and her (now former) sponsor Puma as the internet was flooded with thousands of shocking pictures and videos

She gave a shit about it!

you make it sound like she running around intentionally finger painting it smearing it on people and things. thats not even remotely the story here.

[–] Carnelian@lemmy.world 14 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Well, she got it all over her arms and hands then actively smeared it into equipment other people had to use. This went on for like 40 minutes. Then she publicly bragged about doing so.

Your interpretation of the story is that she was unaware this was happening?

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 1 points 55 minutes ago

It's not that far off really.

I need some context - or perhaps I don't?

A Hyrox athlete (this incident making rounds on the internet is how I first heard of the sport) shat herself during a competition but kept going and won, using shared equipment with feces streaming down her legs. She proclaimed “a win is a win” and only apologized after backlash online and losing her sponsorship from Puma.

Thanks.

What a niche drama.

I thought this was about Trump, somehow. Wouldn't that be nice.

They put only the best diapers on him. Very beautiful diapers. That's why it doesn't run down his legs and get all over the oval office.

Puma are such morons for this. A win is a win, you want her to stop? This is a fucking winner. Puma is diarrhea of shoes anyway 😂😂

[–] HerbalGamer@sh.itjust.works 23 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

[–] orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts 12 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (3 children)

Or those ~~knockoff~~ Oreos—Hydrox.

Edit: Hydrox came out first!

[–] flamingo_pinyata@sopuli.xyz 8 points 1 hour ago

That name must be why Oreos became more popular. Who wants to eat a "Hydrox"

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 8 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Didn't that brand come first? I'm too lazy to Google it.

[–] orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts 8 points 2 hours ago

You’re right! Oreos came out 4 years after Hydrox. So Oreos are the knockoff. TIL.

So, I realise being in a gym makes this far worse than, say, an endurance athlete, but do you think part of the reason she was given so much shit (lol) is because nobody takes Hyrox seriously?

[–] ltxrtquq@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I'd imagine an athlete doing this sort of thing in a more popular sport would face more criticism and ridicule. If anything, Hyrox being niche is probably saving her from a lot of attention and outrage.

[–] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Endurance athletes piss and shit themselves all the time.

[–] ltxrtquq@lemmy.ml 1 points 48 minutes ago

"Organisers should assess whether such a situation could affect the health or wellbeing of other competitors," he said.

Dr Li said this was particularly important because HYROX was an indoor event.

"Take a marathon as an example. If a competitor is menstruating, organisers would generally respect their decision to continue because a marathon is an outdoor event," he said.

"They don't share equipment with other competitors, so it generally doesn't pose a public safety concern.

"But HYROX is an indoor event, where competitors share equipment. In that situation, I think the organisers should have staff step in and adjust the event, or take appropriate emergency measures."

Outside during a marathon, you could make an argument. But inside, using equipment that everyone after you will also need to use, is a different story.
