they've always "freshened up" listings by adding furnishings so that part is probably fine. the issues start when the computer moves walls and windows around.

I saw a thing yesterday about how Just Eat are now using AI generated images of the food being offered.

It's pissed me off for long enough that so many restaurants use stock images, rather than just taking a fucking photo of what they make, but for there to be no human at all in the process is a massive piss take. If they as a restaurant don't care enough about the food they offer to take some photos of it, then I, even as a fat bastard with a tendency towards gluttony, don't care enough to order from them.

And that's just a takeaway. AI images of somewhere that might cost me £1300 a month can fuck right off.

Right?? Out of date photos are annoying enough to deal with, but outright faked "photos" are a whole other ball game!

A use case I've seen (not AI actually, but old-school CGI when I was looking a few years ago) is for projects still in construction where you can reserve an apartment and buy when it's ready. The CGI images show the general shape of the place and illustrate what it might look like once furnished, with the very clear notice that the apartment will be turned over unfurnished and the photos are only there to give you an idea

When Mamdani sat at his desk for the first time, he moved all the neglected paperwork from previous administrations, and discovered a big red button that said "Something Good." So he pressed it, and Something Good happened.

He kept pressing it, and good stuff kept happening. It turned out, that button was ALWAYS there, and previous mayors could have pressed it at any time, but they never bothered.

Then it turns out that a Something Good button is on the desk of EVERY politician, and they just don't press it. Why? Because really wealthy people and corporations pay them a lot of money to NOT press that button.

It's time to make ALL politicians start pressing the Something Good button on their desks.

It can't be doom and gloom all the time. He's setting the standard and people are celebrating it.

People should also be less surprised that the handsome, well spoken, popular, Mamdani was able to flatter an egocentric, maniac, surrounded by sycophants, like Trump into being his biggest supporter. Forget playing him like fiddle, Trump is the dollar store recorder they forced on us elementary school.

It's called doing anything. Like, these things he's doing are great, but it really shouldn't be headlines. These things should just be normal politician things. They're great because every other fucking politician doesn't give half a shit about their people, but they shouldn't be. They should be boring things, that are done, and you don't even know it has happened.

You can't give the blanket "Democrats" credit for this. The degree to which the Democratic establishment fought to keep guys like him out if power can't be understated. However the progressive parts of the democratic party are growing in strength and number by the day. I hope some day the party stands up for half of what he does. This is the only guy who makes me hopeful for the future

Well, most local politicians are 1) mediocre and 2) not the mayor of one of the largest cities in the world.

The city has more people than 38 states. It's hard to get more visibility than that.
Like, my local mayor ordered the police to forbid certain types of restraints, ban no-knock warrants, and raising the threshold for traffic stops. Also moderately updated the ordinances around recreational marijuana businesses . He's also directed city funds towards fighting homelessness by providing substance abuse counseling and housing them in vacant appointments we already have, and building auxiliary housing.

Pretty good. But there's only around 100k people. It's just not as much impact or visibility.

99% of politicians don't work for the people. A capitalist system will always require anyone with power to chase the money. He's part of the remaining 1%

If our country weren't so bought off by billionaires, it wouldn't feel so weird to see a politician doing obviously correct things.

I can't remember if it was before 2016 but it is something Trump said, he said "you are going to get sick of winning".

But this is actually what winning looks like. Approval ratings go up!!!
