Which reminds me, wasn't there an interview where he was asked if he had to start over with just $100 (the equivalent of two rocks)... and he didn't even understand the question...?
We live in an era of abundance but a tiny minority of ultra wealthy villains cannot stand resources being shared fairly if it means they lose their relative wealth, and the vast majority are coming to realize they can (violently or not) seize the means of production and sentence a dozen of these fuckers to death along with anyone dumb enough to defend them during this final stretch of late stage capitalism.
It's going to take a few years of turmoil and effort, but a few brave people here and there will be enough to bust their bunkers and drain their accounts to pay for the resources they've managed to steal from public coffers over the last decade. There won't be justice because laws aren't going to apply, only fury and retribution as the majority do not show the same mercy afforded to the Nazis during the Nuremberg trials.
We live in an era of abundance
Much of it is due to exploitation, but I still agree. All austerity narratives exist to make rich people richer. That's the only austerity we suffer from.
What a nice daydream
Human population grew past the point where direct individual mutual help was a sustainable way of keeping social cohesion.
Population size isn't the issue. Population mobility is the issue. In a globalised world where you can more or less easily cross whole continents and with a society that requires you to regularly move across the country for "new jobs" or whatever, you inevitably agree less connected to the thousand people IV your birth village.

Even in one location it's a big issue. When even a small city has more than 10k people, the people with resources might not personally know those who don't have them.
