Reddit is mostly ai bots, & bots, and maybe a few genuine users.
I had my 18yo account 0erma-banned by ai. Then, ai reviewed ai ... ... ai said ai was correct but would send it up for further review... ... by another ai. Who sent it to a human... ... and the human sent me an apology. "Sometimes, we get things wrong. Your account has now been fully re-instated. We are sorry." ... and then ai stepped in and overrode the humans mods.

Old.reddit still works fine on firefox on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8+ but my PC, pixel fold, and every other device only lets me view the old style when browsing multiple subreddits. If I want to see an individual subreddit I append the address with a banned sub e.g. old.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales+narcofootage.

I have to say, this war on Old Reddit is doing wonders to curb my Reddit use.
It's actually amazing how quickly it killed my usage of the site. I deleted my account years ago but still lurked every now and then. Now I literally can't go back, I won't download the app and the new site layout is pretty much unusable for me.
I stopped commenting years ago. Old reddit changes stopped me browsing too.
I used Stealth for a while, and it was awesome, but it would go in and out, and a few months ago it just stopped working completely.
That change helped reduce scraping and automated abuse, but still allowed any logged-in account to access Old Reddit, including accounts with no prior Old Reddit use.
To close this gap, in the next few months, we'll further limit access for logged-in users to only those who have used Old Reddit in the last six months
How horrible, ANY logged-in account can just access old reddit?? That needs to be fixed asap, how dare new users just use old reddit when they have a perfectly good shreddit available to them. — Reddit admins apparently

I only use reddit now to mod two subreddits. If I lose that account, that's it, I'm gone. I already stopped posting news to my local city one because I just don't care enough.

I never posted anything close to political or "sketchy" either. Was never impolite; it was just a place for niches. I still don't know why I was banned/shadowbanned...
I am not signed in and old reddit works fine. I have noticed that subreddit specific search nsfw tick boxes dont always load for whatever reason.
Why are we still caring what Reddit does?
Because realistically I can only scroll on Fedi for maybe 20-30 minutes in a day before I've seen everything and if I have more time to kill, Reddit is there. Although I don't comment there at all anymore, it's truly worthless for conversation.
I like to keep track of enshittification in general.
Reddit is fantastic for certain niche communities. On the whole, it fucking sucks, but it does contain so much helpful info because it just brings people together over a specific topic.
There is literally nowhere else I can go for live game threads for sports as good as reddit.
Because when Reddit fucks up those users will look for alternatives, like Lemmy.
In this case it's important to highlight that Lemmy has many different front ends and apps available. Lemmy can look however you'd like it to look.
My friendship ended with Reddit. Now Lemmy is my friend. 🫂
Until a comment you makes pisses off a power tripping mod and then you are permabanned from like 16 communities.

All the communities with power tripping mods here are either minor or have significant viable alternatives.

I still follow some webcomics and search for things occasionally on Reddit. Using Redlib has been fantastic. Don't need to worry about their interface changes. Don't need to worry about having an account. Just input the few subscriptions I need into the Redlib docker container. All my devices are setup to redirect Reddit links to my Redlib deployment.
