Vance tells Sean Hannity that Democratic ‘arsonists’ will reverse Trump’s successes even as he admits his own administration needs more time

JD Vance laid out the Trump administration’s best case for a Republican victory in the midterm elections on Thursday, returning to his role as the White House’s great communicator. But instead of empathizing with Americans’ economic pains and fears about the future, the vice president leaned into fear-mongering about Democrats.

Vance spoke with Fox’s Sean Hannity in an interview that aired Thursday, and leaned into the administration’s successes at driving illegal crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border to 50-year lows as he made the case for the GOP.

As he spoke about the supposed priorities of hypothetical Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, however, Vance claimed that his opponents wanted to block Republicans from ever winning elections again and “transform” America, citing such issues as acceptance of transgender Americans.

It's pretty stunning how during the campaign they were like, "OMGWTF eggs cost a dollar more! Fucking revolution now!" And now they're like, "Fuck you wimps for complaining about five dollar gas, you ungrateful little shits."

[–] CluelessCalls@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How big is the kid fucking and treason?

[–] Kintarian@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Apparently pretty popular in conservative circles

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What an irredeemable piece of shit. Let them eat cake indeed. Fuck this guy.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm convinced that they have cuntishness contests.

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Or at least cuntiness training weekends.

[–] maxthemummer@lemmus.org 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They must be very confident in their plans to retain power.

[–] GoofSchmoofer@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

I've had that same feeling and it's quite scary

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I've been saying this. The fix is in. Republicans have a hundred year Fourth Reich.

[–] pomp@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

"The most dangerous creation of any society is the man who has nothing to lose." - James Baldwin

These idiots really believe they have power. Can't wait for the tipping point.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why does Vance have a voice? He should be attending book clubs and funerals in his role as VP. Is he griping about us complaining about his useless, no good, degenerate boss?

[–] locahosr443@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

The whole US republican party just seems to be auditions for who will lead maga after trump shits his bed for the last time.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

"Any sacrifice for Dear Leader is worth it!"

[–] kingkong@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

lets not gripe and kick all of them out and jail them no pardons allowed in fact lets remove that power completely.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Vance claimed that his opponents wanted to block Republicans from ever winning elections again

So basically what the reds are trying to do to the Democrats very literally right now?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Exactly. Statements like that give them the rationalization to do anything they want, because they're just leveling the playing field after Democratic cheating, even if there's no evidence of Democratic cheating.

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

It's either okay to cheat or not okay. You can't "the other guy did it" and expect to be taken seriously. In the real world at least. In fantasy land amerikkka, it's just par for the course.

I wouldn't mind Republican never having power again

[–] Snowies@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The “you, not me” attack being normalized will be the downfall of civilization.

People who value the truth and experience empathy and instinctively do critical thinking cannot tolerate life under these conditions indefinitely.

Everything will break down.

[–] pomp@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Critical thinkers are a very small minority.

[–] Snowies@lemmy.zip 1 points 14 hours ago

I’m not sure how to respond to that other than to say I hope it’s not true.

[–] Kintarian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I guess I'll just eat cake

[–] tigermountain@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The White House’s great communicator? Lol.

That's what gets me about kicking trump to the curb after January or whatever so he can serve two terms after.

I don't think this chucklefuck could win one election let alone two.

[–] FrostyTheDoo@lemmy.world 84 points 2 days ago

"look I know groceries and gas are expensive right now, and that's affecting 99% of you poors negatively. But you can fuck off, poors. If Democrats get into power we will have to accept trans people, which affects none of you negatively. Surely you can understand why you must starve."

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 89 points 2 days ago (6 children)

he admits his own administration needs more time

You know what? If I was very generous and very naive, I might just buy this narrative.

But here's the thing: his boss promised to lower prices from day one, and that was one of the many hard promises he made that even the most mentally incompetent MAGAt knows full well were flat-out lies by now - if they needed convincing before the election.

Fool me once...

[–] KingGordon@lemmy.world 52 points 2 days ago (9 children)

Fool me twice… you cant get fooled again.

[–] ExtremeDullard@piefed.social 32 points 2 days ago (3 children)

That was the dumb fascism era. We're at the pedophile fascism stage now.

Yeah, you shouldn't worry about the little things like food, shelter, transportation, and healthcare. We have bigger issues to tackle as a nation, like one trans kid being on a highschool sports team; you know, the big "purpose of government" stuff.

[–] Kurtismayfield@lemmy.zip 17 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Their white Christian nationalist "utopia" is more important to them than pesky things like people eating, the Bill of Rights, the rule of law, etc.

Forgive me, but I'm just gonna be vulgar for a moment. My partner and I are well off. I don't usually like to mention it, but I will in this context. We were discussing our ability to absorb the price increases pretty easily and how we feel not a shred of compassion for the maga shitheads who experience financial precarity because of how they voted. Fuck 'em.

On the other hand, I feel bad for their children who didn't choose to have groceries become less accessible, their education shat upon, and the same with every other way those kids get hurt by their stupid parents' bad politics.

And that's saying nothing of all the good people who didn't invite this upon themselves and tried to prevent it from happening but suffer just the same. I hope for the least harm to be visited upon people who didn't do this to themselves. And the most for those that cheered for it. (I normally only want good things for people, but I take this moment to give in to my anger a bit.)

"JD Vance, Vice President to President Trump, man who incessantly gripes about every minor slight, real or imagined, tells americans to not gripe about legitimate issues"

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 42 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Rich tell poor to suck it up. This ain't news, it's the way of life for the world ever since factories were invented.

Oh noes not FREEDOM anything but that

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 12 points 2 days ago

Oh, just go fuck yourself, you pedophile traitor.

[–] stinkytofuisgood@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How strict are we on the Lemmy.world instance in terms of what we can say?

Because I'm gonna express what I'm thinking in one way or another, it's just a matter of how bluntly I can say it on a regular basis.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think it is against policy and morally wrong to suggest Vance should choose to staple his scrote to a wooden structure and self immolate, if that's what your asking.

Gaslight
Obstruct
Projection

It really is the same thing every time with these corrupt losers, isn't is? Yes, it's everyone else obsessed with trans people and what's in their pants, not Republicans. It's certainly not Conservatives persecuting immigrants and LGBTQ folks, instead of addressing actual issues. Couldn't be the Grand Old Party chasing AI dollars by building environment-destroying data centers to suck up all our water and personal info. How could it have been Republicans that started a pointless war and drove up prices on gas and food for everyone!? Who's actually focused on the "little things" of culture war bullshit while workers suffer??

Meanwhile, the President is obsessed with vanity projects like ballrooms, arches, and national monuments, while illegally enriching himself and his billionaire friends... The corruption is on full display with these incompetent fools.

[–] Bieren@lemmy.today 20 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You know. The little things. Like gas prices. Grocery prices. Housing prices. Trump is a pedophile. Trump is named more in the Epstein files than god in the bible. Trump is a rapist. Trump is a convicted felon. Kash is down with beastiality. Vance is a drunken moron. You know, just the little things.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

Trump is named more in the Epstein files than Epstein.

Ah, the old "nation of whiners" trope. Always a solid midterm closing argument.
