They can still eat shit since they STILL fund anti-lgbtq organizations, to my knowledge.

[–] PlantJam@lemmy.world 50 points 2 weeks ago (10 children)

I don't care if they still fund it or not. When somebody shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

[–] Nollij@sopuli.xyz 10 points 2 weeks ago (6 children)

With a corporation, that gets complicated. IIRC, it was the CEO and/or other top executives, not the company itself. And those executives are now gone, but still funding the same atrocities.

The new executives still aren't great, so it's easy in this particular case. But what if they really were different?

[–] EatMyPixelDust@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 2 weeks ago

Words are cheap, I'll forgive them only if they do a 180 and actually start supporting the community instead of funding bigots.

The one nearest me is owned by a gay couple. Not sure how that slipped through the cracks…

[–] Goforce5@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I dont really understand it, but their employees in my area seem to be like, 30% gay. Maybe they are all closeted religious folk, but surely that cant be.

[–] blitzen@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I know you mean that 30% their employees are gay, but it tickles me that it reads like you’re assigning them a position on the Kinsey scale.

[–] dogslayeggs@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe they are just people who need a job??

[–] finalarbiter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 88 points 2 weeks ago

Still not eating the overrated bigot chicken.

[–] bashibazouk@lemmy.world 46 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Christofascist chicken or AI fueled burgers...hmm, maybe I'll just get some tacos.

[–] Mandarbmax@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

The taco guy on the corner and the halal truck down the street. I trust them with my life.

[–] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Make sure there's no lettuce on them.

[–] ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

How about pizza? Can’t go wrong with pizza

[–] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Very true. It's tough to find really bad pizza. Little Caesar's tries their best to make awful pizza but somehow manages to make minimally acceptable pizza.

One extra large order of the enemy of my enemy is still my enemy, please. To go.

[–] YerLam@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Enemy of my enemy is my enemy's enemy, nothing more, nothing less.

They can do whatever they want, still not supporting them. Their food isn’t good.

[–] unmagical@lemmy.ml 22 points 2 weeks ago

Nor are their politics!

[–] cattywampas@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (3 children)

I'm a Popeye's and Raising Caine's man.

[–] 51dusty@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

They are building a Raising Caine's near my house. what's their schtick?

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

Star Trek Replicator Chicken fingers. It looks perfect and is always the same, but it's the type of place where somebody probably got thrown out of a window for suggesting that a pinch of black pepper be put into the recipe. The sauce is pretty decent, but I hope you like it because it's utterly necessary. Good lemonade too. Founder leans right, but not "Cathy-family" right.

If you live somewhere with a Layne's Chicken, that's way better. Popeye's is generally better too, though it's traditional fast food grimy versus "pretend we're fast-casual" veneer that a lot of the chicken places like to do.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

Oil! Lots of oil!

[–] LostCarcosan@lemmy.today 3 points 2 weeks ago

Utterly unseasoned chicken, but wonderful bread and good sauce.

Like, seriously, the chicken just tastes like the flour they fry it in. If I go there, I just order bread and a little sauce to dip it in

That's just a lie...

The food is good, for "fast" food it's amazing. Like, I don't think there's another fastfood option that hasn't fully transition to the mcChicken method were the patty is reconstituted scraps.

Their politics with LGBTQ is (was?) absolute dog shit and more than enough reason to boycott them as an isolated issue...

But honestly looking at any other aspect of their company, and they're one of the most worker friendly options. Which again, is not a high bar to clear, especially in fast food.

So if anyone is boycotting Chick-fil-A, they have valid reasons. It's just damn near every other option is even worse, so if they have consistent logic their boycott list is every major corporation. Like, the owner has 10 billion dollars, no billionaire owned company is going to be ethical. If someone's only issue with Chick-fil-A is the anti-lgbt stuff, that doesn't mean they're a good person, it means they only care about the demographic they consider "us".

But again; saying they're food isn't good is just a flat out lie.

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 8 points 2 weeks ago (15 children)

Greasy beading that sloughs off the chicken immediately isn't good by any metric, fast food or otherwise.

They also went to the supreme court so they could determine the healthcare their employees get. Company is rotten

I contest the food part.

The last sandwich I had there was… fine. Squished, plain bun, thin breading, yet outrageously expensive.

A Raising Cain’s sandwich is way better. Even if price wasn’t a factor, and I couldn’t go local for some reason, I’d much, much rather have Steak and Shake, P Terry, Chicken Express, Rosa’s, Fuzzy’s, PDQ…

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

steak n shake is one of the things i really miss after moving to the DC area. other fancy burger places like five guys held me over for a while, but they don't hit like steak n shake.

Listen, I'm not going to tell them to get bent for doing the only sane thing they've ever done, but I'm not throwing them a welcome-to-the-family party either. The lesser evil is still evil and I will continue to avoid so much as letting my shadow darken their doorway.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

There's a reason why Chick Fil A is doing better than every other fast food company: Service.

[–] DudleyMason@lemmy.ml 14 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

There's a reason why Chick Fil A is doing better than every other fast food company: Service.

No, the reason is blind loyalty from Christofascist Christian Nationalists.

Every time you pay them for their bland ass chicken, they spend some of that money on torturing gay kids for Jesus, or supporting a politician that wants to make heresy a capital crime.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (3 children)

Bullshit. There's always 5 extra employees at chickfila, an extra 1-2 in the drive through alone. My order is never wrong at chickfila, I've never had to complain of missing items.

Service trumps it all, whether you like the taste or not. I don't feel cheated, I don't feel abused. I get what I pay for and move on.

It's a very simple system that so many others fuck up so badly.

As much as you think that matters to everyone else as much as it matters to you, you are wrong.

You aren't wrong about what their owners do and what supporting them funds. But 99/100 people going to Chick Fil A just want a damn chicken sandwich. They don't think about the owners or politics. They think about going somewhere that is fast, easy, and relatively tasty (compared to other fast food places).

Blind loyalty only accounts for a very minor percent of their business.

Yeah, as much as I disagree with the owners religious stance/beliefs, there isno denying that Chick-Fil-A is simple well priced, fast, decent fast food with great ustomer service added on around it. They have a very solid business model.

[–] GoldAxolotl@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

they are just not yet fell in the abyss of enshittification on the same level as others dropped themselves willingly, but it's only temporary and enshittification is so much greater than we are 😭

[–] JohnEdwa@sopuli.xyz 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's not a publicly traded company.

When you notice some company being way less shitty than others for apparently no reason, that's almost always the reason.

[–] invertedspear@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago

Publicly traded, or backed by private equity. Both of those situations encourage racing to the bottom, no matter what the founders might want.

[–] Crashumbc@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

ONE GOOD THING DOESN'T REEDEEM A EVIL ORG...

[–] GhostlyPixel@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I still have yet to actually order with an AI system. Plenty of restaurants around me have them, but an employee always cuts in before I can order.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

My family got stuck with one. It couldn't get the order right, kept doubling an item. Finally my kid asked for 10,000 waters and that caused the human to get tagged in.
