What kind of plug is that? Type I should have slanted blades on the bottom, right?

[–] wander1236@sh.itjust.works 42 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I had that thought too, but what a weird choice to use generative AI.

[–] wander1236@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 weeks ago

There was another one of these someone posted in a Discord I'm in that had an Escher-esque perspective mistake, so that combined with a non-existent plug type makes me suspicious.

[–] BagOfHeavyStones@piefed.social 10 points 2 weeks ago

Not Australian.

Any polarization you want, as long as it's not vertical.

Browsing the net

It's a stretch but you get it

[–] john_tech@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

World wide web was right there man

[–] stinkytofuisgood@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

Lmao you're right

[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 weeks ago

You should've seen the size of that bastard. It was this big [gestures with hands]

[–] redbrick@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Why's stuff in Aussie always skin-crawling-creepy? Nasty poisonous spiders on the wall, and now this? Just how did this crawl up there and plug itself in is what I want to know.

[–] Nihilore@quokk.au 7 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

The big wall spiders you see from Australia are totally harmless, it’s the little ones that live underground you gotta watch out for. But even so we’re probably the safest country in the world to get bitten by a spider

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 weeks ago

But even so we’re probably the safest country in the world to get bitten by a spider

For all the bad reasons

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

They’re harmless until they drop into your lap in the Ute when you lower the sun visor

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

But even so we’re probably the safest country in the world to get bitten by a spider

Why? Do you have antidotes for all common venomous spiders readily available, or are there just not that many of them in reality?

[–] brisk@aussie.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

There are precisely two meaningfully dangerous spiders. Redbacks and Sydney Funnelwebs. The former keep to themselves, and the latter have an attitude problem because they have to live in Sydney

Both are covered by antivenin that all paramedics and emergency rooms keep.

Nobody has died from a spider bite in Australia since 1979. The Sydney funnelweb antivenin was developed in 1980.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago

Nice!

Any other dangerous critters in Australia that one should be aware of though? I'm aware of all the memes about how everything in Australia wants to kill you, but I have no idea of the reality and haven't ever been myself - probably want to visit one day because I know you guys have some really beautiful nature, but it's far enough away that the cost and flight time make it somewhat of an ordeal compared to a 3 hour flight to another corner of Europe for a weekend getaway

[–] TrippaSnippa@aussie.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

If this is even real, it's not in Australia. The power point socket is the wrong type.

[–] brisk@aussie.zone 1 points 2 weeks ago

Are you kiwi perchance? I've only heard kiwis refer to the country itself as Aussie, and I'm curious if there are other places that do the same

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 5 points 2 weeks ago

If there is a World Wide Web, you need an appropriately sized spider.

Looks real to me

Edit: damn! I totally ate the slop here. Fuck!!

[–] 0x0@infosec.pub 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Why are there 2 cables going from the router to the plug in the outlet?

[–] bob_lemon@feddit.org 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

One is power, the other one presumably Ethernet going into the cable channel behind the plug.

That said, that outlet is none of type A-O, so probably AI after all.

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No such outlet format AFAIK, definitely not Australian. Sus.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Looks like a cross between aussie and NA ones to me, I can't find one that look exactly like this for any country. Otherwise it could even make sense since powerline ethernet adapters are a thing.

Not sure if some weird smartphone AI magic might've straightened up an aussie outlet? Either way, it's... weird. Not even sure why this photo needed to be genAI, routers like this aren't all that uncommon

Edit: I think someone used AI to "sharpen" this even blurrier image from ~2 years ago as details have changed and the right side of the image has been cropped, but the overall image shape is the same

[–] 0x0@infosec.pub 2 points 2 weeks ago

And the 3rd one is what then..?

[–] bonesawmcl@lemmy.world -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Because you usually need power AND Ethernet? It's going to the cable channel at the wall...

[–] 0x0@infosec.pub 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Ok so what do you think the 3rd small cable to the right connected to nothing is?

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

Headphones for internet radio

[–] blackbirdbiryani@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago
